| Journey to the West has not only compiled history and spread history for generations,but also adapted film and television history for nearly 100 years.Journey to the West is no longer a simple long story,but has absorbed the efforts of thousands of people in the long history of communication,becoming a huge "Journey to the West story group".Journey to the West has a different light in each different era and is greatly influenced by the current social context.Therefore,the author believes that the "grotesque" in different films and TV series is also different from the "grotesque" in the novel.Based on the text analysis of communication studies,supplemented by aesthetic and cultural studies,this paper re-examines the grotesque features of the film adaptation of Journey to the West and its social and public reasons from the perspective of contemporary aesthetic and cultural communication.In the introduction part,it will discuss the origin and development of "grotesque" theory.The grotesqueness of the novel text of Journey to the West is presented and the specific plot is taken as an example to make a tentative discussion on the following text.The first chapter mainly discusses the overall characteristics of the character grotesque in the film and television works of "Due to Travel Notes",and makes a specific analysis from the four levels of the image grotesque,the character grotesque,the language grotesque,and the relationship grotesque between the characters.The second chapter mainly discusses the plot weirdness of the film works of Journey to the West.Taking the film works with post-modern characteristics after Journey to the West in 1995 as a typical case,it finds that the film adaptation of Journey to the West is extremely abnormal in plot,and also has some problems such as symbol mixing and narrative logic illogical.The extreme abnormality of the environment in the third episode of the story is a new grotesque feature of the film and television in recent years.Specifically,it summarizes the visual orientation of the expression mode and the realistic illumination of the narrative content in the film and television adaptation of Journey to the West in recent years from the two levels of variation of the natural environment and pathological presentation of the social environment.In the fourth chapter,the author summarizes and suggests the grotesque aesthetics in the film adaptation of Journey to the West.Firstly,the author points out the uniqueness of thegrotesque in the film and television adaptation.Secondly,based on the film and television works of Journey to the West,the author summarizes the narrative strategies of the contemporary audio-visual grotesque,such as parody,violence aesthetics and visual spectacle.Finally,this paper argues that the film adaptation of Journey to the West should try to avoid the negative impact on the audience caused by the excessive pursuit of "strange",and efforts should be made in the following three aspects: topic setting,grasping the cultural criticism of film and television works,and valuing the audience’s experience.. |
