Study On The Zen Thought Of Yangshan Huiji

Yangshan huiji zen master is one of the important founders of the Weiyangzong of Chinese Buddhism.His master Weishan lingyou,an abbot of Tanzhou Daweishan(in the west of today's Ningxiang county in Hunan province),huiji,an abbot of Yuanzhou yangshan(in the south of today's Yichun county in Jiangxi province),master and apprentice work and cooperate together with mutual understanding,so the later generations of this family,known as Weiyangzong.Weiyangzong was founded in the late of TANG dynasty and which was the first to develop and go downhill among five zen branches(Weiyang,Linji,Caodong,Yunmen and Fayan)of Chinese Zen Buddhism.Weiyangzong stresses the enlightenment on his own without logical thinking,advocates the principle of“no words,no deeds”,and attaches great importance to the zen method of tacit understanding,which has a higher requirement for the solid foundations and great intelligence of the scholars,so it is very difficult for ordinary people to inherit,which led to the stop after 5 successors.Even so,Hui ji's unique meditation style,precise meditation thought,and his way of giving and receiving all had an important influence on the development of zen.Weiyangzong,one of the distinctive genres as zen helps provide further clues for today's zen studies both at home and abroad,also help the modern transformation of contemporary zen meditation way with more materials in modern society,and guide people's spiritual life with rich significance.Based on the use of philology,history and the field test,such as research methods,by analyzing the existing zen sayings related to Yangshan hui ji zen master,ChuanDengLu record data and official documents,and the books and academic papers of the related resources of modern and contemporary scholars both at home and abroad,the paper,on the basis of research result and achievements,has carried on the comprehensive analysis and finishing of Yangshan hui ji`s life story,the method of zen thought,the connotation of the zen,and the zen characteristics of its contents.
