Science fiction is a rare kind of literature which takes the responsibility of "asking questions from heaven".Science fiction can bring readers to the end of time and lead them to the micro beauty. Its thinking about the future represents the extent of our understanding of the universe in this era.Liu Cixin is the most important representative writer of the new wave science fiction in China. His future of human beings is worth exploring more carefully. In his own words, his writing has entered the stage of consciously carrying out ideological experiments on the future. But this writer, who has a broad vision and pays attention to the future, has written about "insects" many times in his writing. Some directly write about insects, and some use them as metaphors. Why does a writer who pays attention to macrocosm have a special interest in such delicate images as insects? Whether there is some homogeneity between insects and human beings in Liu Cixin's works, which leads to his unique outlook on the future. This paper discusses these problems from the point of view of insects. The introduction part mainly includes two parts: research background and related literature.First of all,it introduces Liu Cixin's creative experience and makes preparations for understanding people and discussing the world.Secondly,it simply combs the connotation and significance of the classic image of insect in the eastern and Western literature, and summarizes Liu Cixin's imagination of the future before,so as to facilitate the comparison in the later analysis and discussion. At last,we find a new starting point through literature review. The first chapter sorts out the symbolic meanings of insects in Liu Cixin's works and analyzes the functions of insects in Liu Cixin's works.Liu Cixin not only condensed the memory of Chinese classic culture, but also generated a complete symbolic system of human nature,This symbolic system reflects Liu Cixin's view that man is a worm in the universe. From the perspective of possible world narratology, the writing adopts the ‘ worm perspective'.‘ The worm perspective' is Liu Cixin's fundamental vision to see the world. The second chapter discusses the view of human nature in Liu Cixin's works.Humannature is the driving force of historical development.Only by following the logic of human nature can we foresee the future of human beings. The human nature reflected in this way can be summarized by insect nature. In terms of morality,Liu Cixin believes that human nature is to adjust oneself to become "the fittest" in order to survive, and that animality is the base of human nature.Rationality is the halo that makes human beings stand out from animals, but human beings are always indulged in emotions and reduced to emotions. But ideals and dedication make it possible for human beings to live as ants and be as beautiful as gods.Chapter three discusses the future of Liu's science fiction. This paper attempts to answer whether human beings can enter the ideal society in Liu's science fiction world.Even though the human nature has been written as a kind of homonym,Liu Cixin's vision of the future even carries the spirit of Utopia. From the perspective of social mission,Liu Cixin believes that science fiction can not only describe disasters, but also the perfect world pursued by generations. But this is not only one of Liu Cixin's literary ideals as a writer, but also reflects Liu Cixin's overall optimism for technology and development as a techno fundamentalist.Starting from Liu Cixin's sci-fi text, this paper takes "worm" as the starting point to enter into Liu Cixin's fantasy of the future world.Based on the symbolism of the relationship between man and the universe, this paper analyzes Liu Cixin's unique thinking about human destiny, and finds out the new trend of Chinese literature that has not been paid attention to.
