Master Chang Xing's Propagation Of Buddhism On Earth

At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China,all sectors of Chinese society were trapped in the dangerous situation of internal and external diplomatic difficulties,and Chinese Buddhism also experienced unprecedented attack and destruction.Under the stimulation of many factors such as temple production and school building,Chinese Buddhism seeks the road of rejuvenation in this dilemma.Through the observation of the social situation at that time and the reflection on the current situation of Chinese Buddhism,Master Taixu advocated that Buddhist doctrines should keep pace with the times and conform to the current development trend.Therefore,he put forward the "human Buddhism" which takes Buddhism as the noumenon and concerns about life and society,which provides a practical way for the revitalization of Buddhism.Chang Xing,an eminent monk in the Republic of China,became a monk at the age of nine and was disciplined at the age of seventeen.He studied in Huayan University and learned from Yuexia.After graduation,he traveled around the world to study.In 1917,he met with Master Taixu in Guanzong temple.Under the influence of Master Taixu,master Chang Xing became a supporter and practitioner of spreading human Buddhism.Therefore,based on the research of Chang Xing's life experience,thoughts,teachers,friends and writings,this paper makes a comprehensive study of the relationship between Chang Xing and the advocator of human Buddhism,the theoretical content and social practice of Chang Xing's inheritance and development of human Buddhism.First of all,it mainly introduces the reasons of master Chang Xing's becoming a monk,and combs the learning process of different stages of master Chang Xing.Master Chang Xing has studied for several years and has profound Buddhist attainments.Therefore,it summarizes the main works of his life.Secondly,by analyzing the communication between Chang Xing and Taixu,we can find that under the influence of Taixu,master Chang Xing recognized and supported the Buddhism of Taixu,and then explained the reason why master Chang Xing spread the Buddhism of Taixu.Finally,the author makes an in-depth study on the social practice of Chang Xing's spreading Buddhism to the world.Master Chang Xing not only supports the emptiness of human Buddhism in thought,but also turns it into practice in theory.First,he went all over the world to preach Buddhism,quoted Huayan and other ancient books and theories in a large number of works and speeches toexplain the relationship between Buddhist scriptures and guiding life and society,and his speeches revealed the advocacy of Buddhism on earth between the lines.In addition,he promoted the entry of Buddhism into the WTO,helped the victims,organized the monks' rescue team,actively fought against Japan,and implemented the spirit of Mahayana Buddhism to save the world and benefit the living;secondly,master Chang Xing attached great importance to the education of Buddhists,and his whole life's focus was on the education of Sangha,setting up many Sangha education institutions,such asAnhui Buddhist Institute,Minnan Buddhist Institute,Berlin Institute of education,etc.,which helped to revive Buddhism Third,master Chang Xing invited master Hong Yi to assist in the establishment of the Buddhist sanzhengyuan,rectify the monks' commandments,and made great efforts to improve the quality of monks.
