Khachaturian's Flute Concerto is a characteristic concerto of the flute works in 20th century music. It adapted from Violin Concerto by Aram Ilyich Khachaturian in 1940.Based on the similarities between the flute and violin,Jean Pierre Rampal,a famous French flutist, completed the adaptation in 1968.The flute version basically retaining the original style and integrating the flute characteristics into the content perfectly, reflects the distinctive musical style of Khachaturian. The adaptation that not only respects the style of original, but also exhibits a unique artistic charm in flute performance,is of great research value. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first part is about the background of the work, starting from two perspectives of the original and the adaptation.Secondly,it's the analysis of the adapted characteristics.By summarizing diverse musical characteristics and introducing specific adaptation methods, the reservations and innovations in the adaptation are explained. The last one is the exploration of the performance expression.Combining the practical experience, analyze the innovation and difficulties of playing from the solo and accompaniment levels, and use the directness of violin performance to effectively help surmount the difficulty in flute playing. The author wishes that this research can provided solutions for mastering technique and references for the performance of future research and similar adaptations.
