As one of the most expressive rhetoric in language, metaphor is widely used in all kinds of literary works.Among them, the image metaphor is favored by the majority of literary writers for its vivid and image characteristics. The emergence and development of image metaphors are often closely linked to the national cultural background, which is one of the language phenomena that can best reflect the cultural differences between different nationalities. Therefore, studying the image metaphors in Russian literature helps us to understand the cultural differences between the two countries more intuitively and promote ethnic exchanges.Translation is the art of a language, especially literary translation. It is inseparable from the re-creation of the translator, fidelity is only the basis of re-creation.Image metaphor,as an organic combination of the communicative and aesthetic functions of language,is a very expressive rhetoric method. It has many types and obvious cultural differences. Therefore, the conversion between languages is quite complicated, and the translatability is often limited by the level of the translator.Generally speaking, the translation of image metaphors should follow the principles of fidelity, creativity and aesthetics.Russian writers in the 19 th century were good at using metaphors, while Lemontov and Turgenev, the two great writers of the classic works " A Hero of Our Time " and " Home of the Gentry ",were particularly good at using image metaphors. This paper mainly selects two Chinese versions of these two works as examples.Within the framework of literary translation theories, actively explored the translation of image metaphors and summarized the translation methods under foreignization and domestication strategies respectively, and explored how to bridge the gap between different cultures to understand and reproduce the original artistic image from the perspective of translation.
