With a long history and diversified techniques,lacquer art,as a kind of traditional Chinese technique,has evolved since the Shang Dynasty,the East Zhou Dynasty,the West Zhou Dynasty as well as Ming and Qing Dynasties.Again it catches the attention of the mass in modern times with more efforts made in traditional culture return and social publicity.People regain some understandings about this kind of traditional art.Domestic lacquer art exhibition and academic forum become active gradually and are brought in line with the world.An increasing number of artists start to use lacquer art to create modern artwork,which fades the traditional perception that lacquerware is artwork.The creation of artwork by lacquer independently realizes the transformation from artwork purely made of lacquer to the art creation and enriches the diversity of lacquer art.Ash used for creating lacquerware has gradually formed the distinct art language,which is derived from its auxiliary role in traditional technique along with constant changes and innovations.While studying the lacquerware made of ash,the author finds that ash is improved slightly based on the basic technique of preparing lacquer ash in most of the time.Changing its model or texture and the relationship between ash and lacquer and using it as the creation language has huge expansion and extension potentials.In consideration of the traditional ways that combine lacquer and ash,the author carries out experimental exploration on lacquer and ash through non-assumed and unintentional operation after being inspired by the formicary in nature.The so-called non-assumed and unintentional operation means reserving and respecting all the accidental phenomena happening to lacquer and ash in creation process.Through the combination of lacquer and ash,the ash preparation becomes more diversified.Based on the learning of traditional technique,the author evolves the way of preparing ash in traditional technique and tries to combine ash and lacquer to form lacquer ash particle used for creating lacquerware.Through literature research method,case analysis method and experimental method,the author determines the topic and research orientation through constant analysis,summarization and experiment after combining the traditional and historical techniques and modern art creation ways.The author created some periodical works in the preliminary experiment and exploration.By attempting constantly and exploring deeply the material characteristic and technical potentials,the author has formed the distinct lacquer language and symbol.The creation of lacquer ash particle changes the way of using traditional ash and expands the combination of lacquer and ash,and the creation scope and form of ash.The combination and exploration of the rough and natural textural effect of lacquer ash particle and the aesthetic characteristics of gloom,nature and incompleteness appreciation based on “Wabi-Sabi” displays its exclusive artistic aesthetic value.By trying to explore and expand the diversity of artistic creation and material preparation of lacquerware this time,the author will explore and research more the potential of lacquer ash particle in artistic creation in the future,further enlarge the lacquerware innovation space,understand technique in practice,perceive the difference of lacquer ash particle in techniques and create more works to make contributions to the constant expansion of lacquer field and technical innovation.
