Enlightenment Of Zen Aesthetics On Modern Jade Sculpture Design

In order to provide new ideas for the creation and innovation of the artistic conception of jade carving design,the beauty of zen Buddhism is taken as the starting point,and the close relationship between it and the creation methods of contemporary jade carving is discussed,then its rich aesthetic wisdom into the design of jade carving is introduced.Three core theories of zen Buddhism--"all things are empty","unity of similarities and differences and contradictions",and "taking heart as the basis"--which are most close to artistic creation are selected to explore the aesthetics and creation techniques,then the enlightenments to contemporary jade carving design are summarized and analyzed."Everything is empty" includes two aspects.The first one is "impermanence",which is the basic view of zen to the world.The aesthetic ideas of "things and sorrow" are summarized from its derived thoughts,and the practical guides to contemporary jade carving design are discussed with examples.The second is "no self" from which “the state of no self” is derived.It provides new enlightenment to jade carving design and expands the connotation of "doing art according to materials"."Nought self" and "impermanence" constitute the idea of "emptiness"."Empty concept" is the key of practice and liberation.Empty is not null.It contains infinite,which reflected in the design of jade carving,is the aesthetic experience of "empty and empty".Combined with modern jade carving works,the influence of "emptiness" on the creation of modern jade carving is discussed,and the aesthetic advantages of "emptiness" are compared.The core of "unity of similarities and differences and contradictions" is "the only way".It is pointed out that the only way to realize the truth is the unity of opposites.This kind of thinking with Oriental characteristics is the dialectic of art in artistic expression.In the design and application of modern jade carving,this paper proposes the design concept of combining dynamic and static,interpenetrating,setting off and unifying the contradictions such as virtual and realistic,and puts forward the specific design concept of reconstructing time and space in the design and creation as well as the guiding idea of "not grasping".The "mind-centered" theory of mind is an important feature that distinguishes zen Buddhism from other buddhist sects."Self-performance begets all kinds of methods"(tanjing · wufa chuanyi no.1),which is a way of practice of enlightenment.The paper then expounds the enlightenment of "enlightenment" on inspiration and its connection with poetic connotation,as well as the image modeling and experience associating creation methods under the guidance of the thought of "no words".Thus,further elaboration of these applicable to the design of jade carving aesthetic guidelines in the creation of jade carving concrete application.Jade carving design only in the process in the history of making tradition and innovation are incomplete.It should absorbs nutrition on outstanding traditionalculture and promote development,through in-depth study of zen aesthetics: "everything is empty","similarities and differences between contradictory unity","idealism" zen aesthetics,some applicable principles to jade carving design creative design thinking are summarized.Examples of modern design and traditional jade jade carving design are contrasted and its' values in jade carving are further explored.The design works also carry the cultural transmission,starting with the zen aesthetic thought,and infusing its aesthetic thought gene into the jade carving design and creation.Under the cultural support of zen aesthetics,it bears and carries forward the Chinese traditional zen culture to some extent,and at the same time,it also brings new vitality to the jade carving design.
