This translation report discusses the translation of marketing texts from the perspective of Verschueren's Adaptation Theory.He believes that the use of language is the process by which users constantly make linguistic choices under the influence of internal and external factors.As a complex cross-language and cross-cultural communication activity,the translation process involves many factors.It is necessary to fully consider the differences in the target audience's cognition,culture and way of thinking,so the translators need to constantly make linguistic choices.This translation report is composed of four sections.First of all,it gives a more comprehensive introduction to this translation project,including the text content,linguistic features and translation methods of marketing text.Secondly,it introduces the task process of this translation practice in general.Thirdly,under the framework of Adaptation Theory,some typical cases in the translation of Marketing Strategy for Small-to Medium-Sized Manufacturers are selected for analysis.Based on the context,function and linguistic features of the marketing text,the translation is analyzed from two aspects: the language structure adaptability at the lexical and syntactical levels;and the contextual adaptability which is studied from the mental world and physical world.The author focuses on this part,which is the main content of this translation practice report.Finally,the author summarizes the translation practice,hoping to provide some guidance for the translation of marketing and similar texts.
