Under the background of "the eastward movement of western learning",Chinese traditional painting is still interwoven with "change" and "unchanging","learn from the ancients, learn from nature" or "go to the west".Based on the particularity of their own artistic experience and the exploration of the charm of Chinese and western art, this paper tries to dig into the current typical art forms of "freehand painting" and "expressionist painting" as the research object."Freehand brushwork" is the highest aesthetic ideal of Chinese painting, and "expression" is the spirit of expressionist painting. The main idea is to prove the difference and value end-result of Chinese and western art in "freehand brushwork" and "performance" aesthetic form, and have a deep understanding of what the two are, what is the connection, what is the common attribute, and what can be used for reference to today’s Chinese painting. The comparative consciousness of the two is constructed under different cultural background attributes. So this article mainly revolves around as a traditional Chinese painting the kernel of freehand brushwork spirit and can represent modern comparative study of western painting expressionist paintings, namely "freehand brushwork" and "performance" relevantcomparative study as the main content of this article, the research methods to compare through the full text, the purpose is an objective analysis of the similarities and differences of the two.Firstly, the definition of "freehand brushwork" and its historical origin are further expounded.Secondly, because the historical origins of "performance" are relatively short and interlaced and complex, the interpretation of "performance" takes time as the main line, and selects relatively typical schools as representatives to explain why expressionism works,so as to deepen the understanding of it.Then, from "freehand brushwork" and "performance",the author selects the typical representative painters of thought expression, painting language, emotion catharsis and time and situation perspective to make a comparison and illustrate the similarities between them. This paper makes a comprehensive analysis of their similarities and differences from the objective differences of their philosophical backgrounds and humanistic attributes. Finally, from another perspective of thinking, the cognition and way of the two in the process of artistic creation,as well as the comparison of the objective presentation of the final image(painting),the author expounds the interrelationship between the two.In the process of comparative study,it is found that with the development of Chinese painting, expressionist painting is also different from the western traditional painting, which has changed from "rational aesthetic" to "irrational aesthetic",showing a trend of convergence with Chinese painting.Among them,in the aspect of cognition: both of them emphasize the subjective factor in the primary position of artistic creation in essence;Imagination, passion, life spirit as the source of artistic creation, emphasizing the role of inner soul;In terms of grasping image and artistic expression,it also lays particular stress on concept and reason to break the principle of passive acceptance of objects and express the inner truth from the inner need(inner spirit).they put the inner In reality. These are essentially the most authentic internal structure of painting,so "freehand brushwork" and "performance" are interlinked,so Chinese freehand brushwork and expressionism painting are allogeneic and isomorphic.
