Xi Shu came from the Xi family,a famous family in Sichuan Province in the Ming Dynasty.His first ancestor in Sichuan was Xi Youzhen.Xi Shu is the seventh generation.In the middle of the Ming Dynasty,Xi's culture flourished,large numbers of talented people in the family.In the third year of the reign of emperor Hongzhi of Ming Dynasty(1490),he was awarded to Tancheng county magistrate.He was in charge of water affairs as the head of the Gong department,theminister ofHu department in Shandong,the governor of Henan Province,the deputy governor of Guizhou Province,the right political counsellor of Henan Province,the right governor of Zhejiang Province,the right governor of Yunnan Province,the left governor of Fujian Province,and the right deputy capital of the Court of Censors.He went to the Ministry of rites,and he was granted grand secretaryof Wuying hall and the title of Taifu,his posthumous title is Wenxiang.Xi Shu had many friends all his life.He had close contacts and exchanged letters with Wang Yangming,Huang Wan,Hu zanzong,Yang Yiqing and others.Xi Shu often exchanges academic knowledge,letters and appreciation with them.Xi Shu has written a lot in his whole life,such as Cao Chuanzhi,Dali Jiyi,Yuanshan Wenxuan,Dali Zhuan yao,Xi wenxianggong Memorial,Mingyuan record and so on,which are rich in content and have far-reaching influence,retain a lot of historical data and have high research value.During his official career,Xi Shu took part in many relief activities and saved a large number of hungry people.It should have a place in the history of C hina's disaster relief.In his life,Xi Shu's discussion ofthe Great Rites Controversy is the most attractive activity.In the 16 th year of Zhengde(1521),when the Great Rites Controversy was discussed,Xi Shu and other supporters supported the emperor and finally won the grand ceremony.When he was an official,he encouraged people to open up wasteland,build water conservancy projects,pay attention to education,build schools,crack down on local tyrants and punish corrupt officials,and made great contributions to the politics of the Ming Dynasty.Xi Shu's academic thought was influenced by his predecessors and had its own characteristics,especially his great contribution to the spread of Wang Yangming's "Mind Thought" in Guizhou.Xi Shu had his own unique ideas in politics,which was especially obvious in his governance of famine.In literature,Xi Shu's prose and CI are praiseworthy,reflecting his high literary attainments.In particular,his CI embody high literary attainments,but they are buried for a long time and need to be published.Xi Shu is a political figure with different opinions in history.Some people praised him for his rich knowledge and upright character,and some people said that he was a cunning villain because he was different from Xi Shu in the event of grand ceremony,which was caused by the Great Rites Controversy at that time.Xi Shu is not a flatterer.He is good at observing and analyzing the current sit uation from the perspective of human feelings.He just hopes that the society will be well governed.Generally speaking,Xi Shu is a generation of famous officials who dare to speak frankly and be loyal to the emperor and the people.
