The Presentation Of Musical Metaphor In The Dichterliebe

Dichterliebe is one of the representative works of German composer Robert Schuman(1810-1856).It is based on the long poem Lyrisches Intermezzo,which was created by Christian Johann Heinrich Heine(1797-1856).This paper takes Dichterliebe as the main body and discusses it from the perspective of metaphor,focusing on the different presentation of natural metaphor,character metaphor and atmosphere metaphor in music.This paper aims to explore the emotional expression and inner artistic conception behind it from the perspective of metaphor,and to understand the relationship between Dichterliebe and the external world,so as to broaden our understanding of the way of music interpretation.The thesis consists of three parts: introduction,main body and conclusion.The introduction mainly includes four aspects: the reason for choosing the topic,the significance of the research,the research methods and contents,and the literature review.The main body is composed of four chapters: Chapter one,metaphor and musical metaphor,mainly introduces the concept and research context of metaphor,general situation and presentation types of musical metaphor,which lays a theoretical foundation for the writing of the thesis.In the second chapter,the natural metaphor in Dichterliebe focuses on the imitation of natural sound and natural form in music.Natural voice includes human voice,entity voice and animal voice.Natural form includes human form and non-human form.In the third chapter,the metaphor of the characters in Dichterliebe includes two "people",one is the composer himself,the other is the protagonist in the music.In the process of presenting metaphors of two characters,music achieves the purpose of expressing characters' emotions,portraying characters' images and mapping the author's personal life by means of comparison,arrangement and implication.The fourth chapter,the atmosphere metaphor in Dichterliebe,mainly discusses the implication of different atmosphere in music,such as joy,liveliness,solemnity and sadness.These hints are achieved through the rendering of piano parts and the creation of the overall atmosphere.It is not a certain musical element or technique that can be achieved,but a variety of elements need to be integrated,complementary and work together.The conclusion part is the rethinking of the whole paper,which includes three parts: the presentation basis,the realization path and the realization diagram of the musical metaphor in Dichterliebe.These three parts are closely linked and built step by step,which shows the final presentation of the musical metaphor in Dichterliebe.
