Alice Munro(1931-)is a famous Canadian short story writer who had wined the 13 th Nobel Prize for Literature.Since 1968,Monroe has created a total of 14 short stories,including more than 100 short stories.Most of these novels take women as the main characters,showing the living difficulties and spiritual pursuit of ordinary women in the regional space of small towns in Canada,and highlighting many historical and practical problems in the life of Canadian women.This paper is divided into three parts.The introduction part briefly summarizes Alice Munro’s life experience and creation on the basis of previous studies,and summarizes the current research situation at home and abroad from the perspective of women’s identity,expounds the significance of the topic selection and research ideas.The text part discusses the origin of Munro’s female identity consciousness,the construction of female identity in Munro’s novels,and the narrative method of constructing female identity.The first chapter discusses Munro’s living environment and life experience,and the influence of Canada’s social history and culture on Munro’s formation of female identity consciousness,especially emphasizing the important influence of feminism.The second chapter analyzes the dilemma of family ethical identity and professional identity faced by the female characters in Munro’s novels.As well as the reasons for the identity dilemma,on this basis,it compares and analyzes the different ways in which these female characters construct their subject identity in the family and society,thus discussing Munro’s unique understanding and in-depth thinking on the construction of female subject identity.The third chapter analyzes Munro’s narrative mode of constructing female identity from three aspects: the use of narrative perspectives of internal focus and zero focus,the choice of narrative images that embody "femininity",and the writing of story space and psychological space,revealing Munro’s narrative characteristics in the expression of female identity.The conclusion part summarizes the characteristics of Munro’s novels about female identity creation,and compares the female identity consciousness reflected in Munro’s and Atwood’s works,further revealing the characteristics of Munro’s female identity consciousness and the significance of Munro’s creation in the times.This paper analyzes the female identity in Munro’s novels from the perspective of feminism,and comprehensively uses the theories of identity,narratology,space theory and other theories to dig out the topics from various angles,and expounds the reasons and ways of female identity construction in Monro’s novels.Path,ideological basis and narrative methods,explore the connotation and characteristics of Munro’s female identity consciousness,thus enriching the feminist research of Monro’s novels.
