It has been mentioned in the English curriculum standard that English curriculum has the dual nature of instrumentality and humanity.Teachers should guide students to get the cultivation of English literacy ability by mastering English language knowledge,so that students can get the cultivation of cross-cultural awareness in English reading.As a tool to present reading content,mind mapping has been shown to play an important role in learning in many studies.Some researchers also show that the use of mind mapping can help students form good reading habits in the process of reading.Therefore,this paper chooses the way of using mind map to verify whether mind map can significantly improve students' English reading ability and what impact it has on English reading literacy.In view of this,in the usual teaching of reading comprehension,this paper first presents the reading content through mind map,and analyzes the actual effect of mind map applied in reading teaching compared with traditional reading teaching.First of all,this paper confirms the background,significance of this study and the problems existing in the current English reading class,and analyzes the current situation of mind map in English reading at home and abroad by consulting materials,combs the concepts of mind map,and the theoretical basis of this research is clarified,which lays a theoretical foundation for further in-depth researchSecondly,identify the issues,tools,methods,and procedures for the study.In addition,the pre-test questionnaire survey was conducted for the experimental class and the control class.After a semester's study,only the post-test questionnaire was conducted for the students of the experimental class.This paper mainly analyzes and compares students' reading comprehension test results and their understanding and application of mind map.The following conclusions are drawn from the collection and analysis of the reading performance data of the two classes:In junior high school English reading teaching,the use of mind mapping students' reading comprehension performance has improved.Compared with the traditional form of oral teaching,students' use of reading strategies and reading comprehension scores have been improved when using mind map.In the end,the author makes a careful analysis of the shortcomings of this study,and the direction of future efforts and improvement is put forward.
