Modern Chinese is an important link between the preceding and the following period. At the same time,“Shen”-class adverbs is the largest category of degree adverbs. With the help of large labeled corpus, this paper investigates the synchronic features and diachronic evolution in modern Chinese by using the theories and methods of corpus linguistics. This paper studies the collocation ability of“Shen”-class adverbs in modern Chinese by the method of structural collocation analysis. On this basis,it analyzes the similarities and differences of “Shen”-class adverbs. In addition to the “Introduction” and “Conclusion”,the paper is divided into four chapters. The “Introduction” part introduces the research status, purpose and significance of the research on “Shen”-class adverbs,as well as the research methods, contents and prospects of corpus linguistics. It also explains the source of corpus and the research method of this paper. The first chapter describes the general features of “Shen”-class adverbs in modern Chinese.First of all,it introduces the language characteristics of “Shen”-class adverbs in the synchronic plane of modern Chinese, and makes a diachronic comparison with “Shen”-class adverbs in ancient Chinese and middle ancient Chinese. It is found that “Shen”-class adverbs in modern Chinese are a system with historical level, which not only inherits and uses “Shen”-class adverbs in ancient and middle ancient Chinese, but also has innovation and development. The second chapter introduces the collocation characteristics of “Shen”-class adverbs in modern Chinese. From the perspective of combination function,it can modify adjective structure, verb structure, subject predicate structure,adverbial-central phrase and a few noun structures. From the perspective of syntactic function, modernChinese adverbs of “Shen”-class have the common features of adverbs of other degrees, which can be used as adverbials and complements. In terms of syllable selection, modern Chinese “Shen”-class adverbs have different requirements for the number of syllables of collocations according to their own syllable characteristics. In the choice of sentence pattern, most “Shen”-class adverbs can modify the positive form, some members can modify the positive form and negative form, some members can modify the positive form. The third chapter studies the similarities and differences of “Shen”-class adverbs in modern Chinese by the way of structural collocation analysis.First of all,it introduces the purpose and method of construction collocation research and the data analysis.Using these data, according to the collocation characteristics of different“Shen”-class adverbs,we cluster them and sum up the similarity between different members. At the same time,by using the analysis method of multiple specific co-occurrence words, according to the different collocations of “Shen”-class adverbs in syntactic position,we can find out the differences in the number and the categories of special words between “Shen”-class adverbs. Finally, the correspondence analysis is used to visualize the “Shen”-class adverbs, and the two-dimensional diagram is used to present the differences between the constructions of “Shen”-class adverbs in modern Chinese. The fourth chapter makes a case study of the degree of “this+X” “That+X”,and studies the origin, evolution and usage of these words. The “Conclusion” part summarizes the work and achievements of this paper and reflects on the problems existing in the study of Chinese corpus linguistics.
