The winner of the Nobel Prize in literature,the indian-born British writer Vee su Naipaul occupies a pivotal position in the world of literature.In 1957,Naipaul published his first novel,"the mysterious enchanter",which set him on the road of creation.In 2000,he decided to stop writing after finishing "the mask of Africa".His writing career lasted more than 40 years,and he wrote 33 works in total.As a writer with high productivity and high creative quality,his works have been widely discussed by critics and attracted the attention of many readers.However,many researchers focus on the male,but pay less attention to the female group in the novel text.Taking Naipaul’s novels as the research object,this paper starts with the combing and analysis of the female images in the novels,and probes into the female views in Naipaul’s novels.The introduction mainly summarizes the research status of Naipaul’s novels,and expounds the reasons for choosing the topic of this paper and the significance of the research.The body part is divided into three chapters.The first chapter systematically sorts out and classifies the female imagination in Naipaul’s works,which is generally divided into three types: the female imagination in the colonial third world,the female imagination in the western metropolitan countries,and the imagination of foreigners in the "rootless culture".The above three categories are divided by geographical location,mainly describing women in the native third world,women in the native metropolitan countries and women in foreign countries.Women from other countries included colonial women who went to the suzerain and suzerain women who went to the colonies.Chapter two focuses on the characteristics of female imaginative writing in Naipaul’s novels,and analyzes them from three sections,namely,passive imagination writing,differential imagination writing and mirror image imagination writing.The first section mainly introduces Naipaul’s imagination of women from the perspective of men as a male writer.The second section describes the internal differences of women,which Naipaul saw from the perspective of holistic culture.The third section USES Lacan’s mirror image theory to analyze the female imagination in Naipaul’snovels.Mainly from the western women as the mirror image of Naipaul,Naipaul’s novel environment as the mirror image of the novel of women,Naipaul’s novel women as the mirror image of Naipaul these three perspectives.The third chapter mainly analyzes the female imagination in Naipaul’s novels from three aspects: political background,cultural background and family background.The political background was that the British empire was no longer dominant,but in a state from prosperity to decline.In order to get rid of British control,the people of the third world started an anti-colonial movement.The anti-colonial movement also stimulated the development of the feminist movement.Naipaul’s cultural background is based on the western culture and the traditional Trinidadian culture,which have the opposite attributes of colony and anti-colony.Therefore,the female characterization in Naipaul’s novels also has the characteristics of opposition and contradiction.Finally,it introduces the influence of family factors on the female imagination in Naipaul’s novels.Mainly from the original ecological family and wife,lover and other aspects of the analysis.The conclusion part is the overall evaluation of Naipaul and his view on women.In general,Naipaul’s cognition of women is always based on the protection of male rights and interests,while his narration of women from different countries and different classes is full of contradictory and complicated feelings.In the face of colonial women,while hating their ignorance,he gave them some sympathy.In the face of the patriarchal women,Naipaul showed obedience to the powerful culture behind them,but also developed a sense of resistance due to the male self-esteem.
