A Study On Code-switching Of Singapore Business Communication Subject

In recent years,as the relations between China and Singapore is getting increasingly close,large numbers of Chinese choose to work in Singapore.As Singapore is a multi-lingual,multi-ethnic and multi-cultural country,it is quite different from China in terms of language and cultural background and the ways of speech expression.Therefore,people who have just come to work from mainland China need to adapt to a large number of code-switching communication methods that may appear in their work and life.In this process,may caused language communication problem.Code-switching is a common phenomenon in Singapore’s communication.It has played a positive role in improving the efficiency of interpersonal communication and enhancing the harmony of interpersonal relationships.Chinese workers in Singapore mostly work at the service industry and retail industry,so the business communication in this paper refers specifically to the communication in the service industry and retail industry.Although the phenomenon of code-switching is obvious among Chinese people who have been working and living in Singapore for a long time.this paper needs to investigate whether there will be different code-switching characteristics due to different factors such as education background,age and work field.From the perspective of Chinese language international education,this paper mainly focuses on the investigation and research of new migrant workers from mainland China who have similar Chinese language background and all work in Singapore.This paper mainly discusses the code-switching between Chinese and English,Malay and dialect.In addition,we also conducted a questionnaire survey on 100 of them,and analyzed the causes and background of their code-switching phenomenon.On the basis of literature,the representative business communication scenarios in the collected materials are selected and analyzed.To understand two different types of code-switching between and within sentences in chinese-oriented business communication;Based on the communicative data of the respondents,the social and personal factors that cause these code-switching phenomena are analyzed.we also will from the perspective of "adaptation" of sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics,try discusses and analyzes the rules and characteristics of these code-switching phenomena in Singapore.Form and function side,the analysis points is about that code-switching is an adaptation to language of social and cultural rules.It can help Chinese integrate into the Singapore society faster and solve the problems in language and cultural communication.
