| Negative transfer of native tongue is common in second language learning,which hinders the learning of target language and causes many mistakes.Chinese junior middle school students are in the initial stage of learning English,so Chinese negative transfer has a great impact on their English learning.There are many obvious signs which are rooted in Chinese negative transfer in their writing.As an important indicator of learners’ comprehensive language ability,English writing has long been a headache for English teachers and students.Therefore,how to reduce Chinese negative transfer’s impact on middle school students’ writing effectively is worth discussing and studying.Based on Language Transfer,Error Analysis,Contrastive Analysis and Interlanguage,this study takes eighth graders as the research object,adopts questionnaire survey method,corpus collection method and teaching experiment to study the phenomenon and essence of Chinese negative transfer.Firstly,the extent to which eighth graders are affected by Chinese negative transfer in syntax of English writing is known through a questionnaire.The questionnaire survey shows that for Chinese junior middle school students,the effect of Chinese negative transfer on English writing syntax cannot be ignored.Then,the writer uses the composition of eighth grade students as samples to analyze the syntax errors which are caused by Chinese negative transfer in students’ writing.What’s more,the writer classifies the errors according to the principles and steps of Error Analysis.It is found that there are nine main types of syntactic errors caused by Chinese negative transfer in middle school students’ English writing.For each type of error,the writer combines examples to analyze the causes of the errors.The author has formulated a series of writing micro-skills training teaching plans and teaching implementation solutions,what’s more,a one-semester teaching experiment was conducted in the experimental class.After the experiment,the number of each kind of syntactic error which appears in students’ writing before and after the teaching experiment is counted and compared.The results of teaching experiments and questionnaire surveys show Chinese negative transfer has a great impact on the syntax of English writing for middle school students.However,systematic and scientific teaching strategies can help students a lot.On the basis of error analysis,comparing the main differences between Chinese and English syntax and finding out the causes of errors can help students develop English thinking,improve English learning strategies,and form a positive learning attitude,which can make students strive to reduce the impact of Chinese negative transfer on English syntax.At last,students can improve their ability of English writing and be standard English learners. |
