Objective: The "English Language Proficiency and Interest Assessment Scale for Primary School Students" was prepared to provide a standardized testing tool for assessing the English language ability and interest of primary school students.Based on the results of the evaluation,students with lower interest and ability in English are intervened to provide solutions for the development of primary school students’ English language competence and interest.Methods: 1.Drawing on existing research results,using expert interviews and structured questionnaires to construct the structure and content of the table.Using convenient sampling,50 primary school English teachers were selected,including 9 male teachers and 41 female teachers;the number of teachers in grades 3-4 and 5-6 were 24 and 26 respectively.500 questionnaires were sent out from two schools in the city for self-evaluation.432 effective questionnaires were recovered,with an effective rate of 87%,including 242 boys and 190 girls;46,47 and 339 students in grades 4,5 and 6respectively.2.Using the experimental method,the students of the two classes in the fourth and sixth grades were evaluated on the "Primary Students ’English Language Competence and Interest Rating" test.Combined with the teachers’ feedback,32 students with lower ability and interest levels wereselected.The experimental group and the control group of the fourth grade and sixth grade each had 8 people,who were trained8 times for 2 months with a mixed training mode of various training methods such as game method.Results: 1.Scale preparation:(1)Scale structure,the assessment of English language ability and interest of primary school students consists of two subscales(ability and interest),8 dimensions(listening ability,oral expression ability,reading ability,written expression ability,Listening interest,oral expression interest,reading interest,written expression interest)and 24 items.There are 4reference projects and 20 self-compiled projects,with a self-compiled rate of 83.33%.(2)Project analysis,the average number of items on the scale is between 2.14 and 3.13,with an average of 2.74;the standard deviation of the items is between0.912 and 1.167,with an average of 1.031;and the project popularity level is between 0.506 and 0.875,with an average of 0.7;The project distinction is between 0.54-0.75,with an average of 0.66.(3)The quality of the scale,The retest reliability of the total scale is 0.75.The subscale is 0.76 and 0.70;the coefficient of the total scale is 0.94,and the subscale is 0.91 and 0.90;Expert evaluation consistency coefficient S-CVI is 0.96;The confirmatory factor analysis results show that the RMSEA of the scale is less than 0.05,and the model fitting indexes CFI and TLI are 0.965 and 0.956,respectively;the validity of the total scale and thestudents ’English performance at the end of the period is 0.68,and the scale is 0.68 and 0.59.2.Intervention experiment:(1)Multivariate analysis of variance between groups and grades before intervention,the value of the interaction effect between groups and grades is 0.96,and there is no interaction between groups and grades on multiple dependent variables;the main effect value of groups is 1.00,the group has no significant difference on the total scale and the two subscales,the experimental group and the control group are equal groups;the main effect value of the grade is 0.36,p(27)0.01,there is a significant difference on the total scale and subscale of the grade difference.(2)Multivariate analysis of variance between groups and grades after intervention.The value of the interaction effect between groups and grades is 0.98,and there is no interaction between groups and grades on multiple dependent variables;the main effect value of groups is 0.76,p(27)0.05.There is a significant difference between the group total scale and the subscale;the grade main effect value is0.73,p(27)0.05,and there is a significant difference between the grade total scale and the subscale.(3)Compared with the difference before and after the intervention,the value of the interaction effect between the group and the grade is 0.90,p(29)0.05,and there is no interaction between the group and the grade in multiple dependent variables;the value of the group is 0.70,p(27)0.01,the experimental group and the control There were significant differences among the three dependentvariables in the group;the value of grade was 0.95,p(29)0.05,and there was no significant difference in multiple dependent variables in the fourth and sixth grades.Conclusions: 1.The primary school students’ English language ability and interest rating scale is quite autonomous.2.The quality of English language ability and interest assessment of is excellent.3.The intervention of pupils’ English language ability and interest has a certain improving effect.
