The Han Portrait is the valuable historical heritage of our country.It records the people's living and belief of Han Dynasty in solid form.From which,we can gain the knowledge of the political style,local customs and religious ideas.Therefore,the Han Portrait is the important medium to carry out the research on Han Dynasty,meanwhile the significant carrier to retrospect the past and imagine the future.This paper will take the Rainbow Portrait as an example in the Han Portrait,which retrospect the spiritual content from the aspects of nature and humanity with the characteristics of Dragon Head,Double heads &single body and Single Rainbow& Double Rainbows.These features result from the relations between the rainbow and dragon.What's more,the double heads-single body style also has the meaning of divinity apart from the similarity in appearance.There are both single and double rainbows,mainly result from the human understanding of male and female as well as Yin and Yang.The portrait of rainbow usually appears together with the portrait of River Uncle's Trip,Raining and Thunder,Fish with Lotus,reflecting status and characteristics as the natural gods.The features of Rainbow in Han portrait doesn't initiated in Han Dynasty.They are the inherited belief since the ancient times.In the primitive culture,Jade huang,which is the symbol of the rainbow is used as the sacrifice vessels.The art carrier of Jade huang are endowed the function for Pray for the rain and becoming immortal by the ancient people.The Chinese character of rainbow in oracle bones inscriptions Shang and Zhou Period,and the rainbow shape on the bronze wares both reveal the nature worship and biological worship.The fixed thinking modes of Dragon Drinking Water in the Chinese fairytales also prove the close connect between the dragon and the rainbow.While inheriting the rainbow admiration belief in ancient times,the Han Dynasty combined the Han Dynasty portraits and this artistic carrier into a new patriarchal and Taoist belief structure,making rainbow a Confucian-Taoist combination.This is closely related to the political thought of the Han Dynasty.It is this belief structurethat makes the rainbow image in the Han portrait have a more unique symbolic meaning.From this it can be summed up that Rainbow plays the four roles,the God of rain,the Bridge of Immortals,the Gate of the Dragon Palace,and the Cover of Heaven.Throughout the Han Dynasty,the rainbow image has esoteric,majestic,harmonious and auspicious aesthetic features,fully embodying the aesthetic concept of the Han Dynasty.
