The issue of freedom is one of the most important issues in the history of philosophy.Freedom and inevitability is a pair of symbiotic categories.Since there are enough revelations on inevitability of social species in sociobiology,it is significant to study the issue of freedom from perspective of sociobiology.Through analysis of the core essence of the issue of freedom, following is found: the absolute freedom corresponding to the metaphysical inevitability and the relative freedom corresponding to the inevitability of the actuality. The former is opposite to the inevitability, while the realization of the latter lies in cognizing and applying the inevitability purposefully.Through the study,a more profound understanding of the practical meaning of freedom can be formed, and some inspiring ideas on the ethics based on the concept of freedom can be drawn. The study of freedom from the perspective of sociobiology is based on the relationship between freedom and inevitability. From the perspective of sociobiology,it is found that the material and biological attributes of human beings determine that human beings cannot get rid of the physical and biological laws independently,so human beings have no absolute transcendental freedom.Through cognizing and applying the inevitability purposefully, however, human beings have the freedom of actuality,a kind of relative freedom.According to the positioning of human by sociobiology,it is found that human beings are confronted with inevitability of three dimensions of actuality, namely, material inevitability, biological inevitability and cultural inevitability, and the relative freedom of human beings lies in the cognizing and applying these inevitability purposefully. The study of freedom from the perspective of the sociobiology has theoretical significance to some evolutionary ethics issues, such as the origin of morality and the attributes of freedom. At the same time, the study of freedom from the perspective of the sociobiology has practical significance to some bioethics issues, such as defining the scope of the gene editing and normalizing environmental development.
