A Study On The Spatial Narrative Of The Shanghai Courtesan Novels

"Brothel" is an important space that plays a key narrative function in the Shanghai courtesan novels.It is not only the undertaker of the author's narrative posture and the concept of space-time structure,but also an indispensable participant in shaping characters and arranging plots.This paper takes the "brothel" in the JiuWeiGui as the research object,and takes the spatial narrative as the starting point,respectively,from five aspects of historical reality,narrative posture,narrative time,character creation and plot construction,to explore the narrative function of "brothel",and then to explore the artistic characteristics of spatial narrative in Shanghai courtesan novels.This paper is divided into six parts:The introduction part combs the research status,the significance of the topic and the research ideas and methods.The current situation of the research is to clarify the research of the JiuWeiGui and the spatial narrative research of ancient Chinese novels,to summarize and comment on all kinds of achievements systematically,and try to explore the gains and losses,the trend and direction of future research.The first part is about the existence of Shanghai brothels in the historical reality,which is divided into three sections: the first section is the general theory of brothel types,and then discusses the types of modern Shanghai brothels.The second section is the introduction of the business and life of Shanghai brothels,respectively,from two aspects of business and life,to explore the reality.The third section is a brief examination of the reality of Shanghai brothels,starting from the geographical layout and internal pattern,to roughly restore its historical appearance.The second part is the discussion of narrative posture in brothels.The first section discusses the process of "brothel" being "narrated" from the narrator's type and motivation;the second section describes the process of "brothel" being "seen" from narrator's perspective,character's perspective and comprehensive perspective;the third section discusses the process of "brothel" being "narrated" and "brothel" being "narrated" The phenomenon of imbalance in the process of "seeing".The third part is the elaboration of narrative time in brothels.It discusses the internal relationship between time elements and space from four aspects: time sequence,time limit,frequency and space-time view.It is mainly divided into four sections: the first section clarifies the two spatiotemporal presentation sequences in the narration of "brothels" and the control of narrative rhythm under the mutual relationship;the second section discusses the movement mode of "brothels" on the time axis based on the story time and text time and space;the third section expounds the presentation mode and corresponding scenes of "brothels" on the time axis based on the spatiotemporal presentation frequency and its corresponding scenes The fourth section explores the deeper concept of time from two dimensions of art and reality.The fourth part is the characterization of "brothel".This chapter will start from the internal and external parts,divided into two sections,to discuss the internal relationship between the characters and the "brothel" : the first section starts from the overall space of the "brothel",to discuss the image shaping of the round and flat characters;the second section starts from the internal space of the "brothel",to discuss the processing of the characters' images by the internal goods and small space.The fifth part discusses the relationship between "brothel" and narrative techniques.The purpose of this chapter is to point out that "brothel" as a space to bear the key narrative function can help the plot construction of the novel,which is divided into two sections: the first section studies the external structure mode of the narrative text,and discusses the emptiness of the plot framework of the novel from two aspects of space consciousness and typed narrative;the second section explores the construction mode of the internal plot of the narrative text,and through the analysis of the plot construction mode of "brothel" The function of "coordinate" and "hinge" in the map summarizes the three-dimensional nature of the plot construction network of the novel.
