China's tourism industry has progressed rapidly under “cultural confidence” and“the strategy of rural vitalization” put forward by President Xi Jinping in the 18 th and19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China respectively.Hunan Province achieves its great fame boasting abundant tourism resources. It's renowned not just for breathtaking natural scenery, but for magnificent cultural landscapes. And the tourism resources of Xiangxi(often claimed as Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture)in the northwest of it are deemed as an essential part of the tourism resources of the entire province. This is a translation report. The source text is mainly excerpted from the fourth chapter of Touring Hunan compiled by Li Yubing, which mainly introduces the scenic spots and cultural customs of Yongshun County,Guzhang County,Fenghuang County and Jishou City of Xiangxi.Based on Hans Vermeer's Skopos theory and guided by“skopos rule”,“coherence rule” and “fidelity rule”,this report testifies the feasibility of Skopos theory to guide the translation of tourism texts through analyzing the translation of culture-loaded words,four-character structure and parallel sentences. It is indicated that in translating tourism texts, literal translation or transliteration plus annotation or literal translation plus annotation can be applied to preserve the cultural characteristics of the cultural-loaded words;Translation methods and techniques such as free translation or omission can be exerted to the translation of four-character structure;Addition, combination and reorganization can be adopted to the translation of parallel sentences. This serves as a reference for the translation of tourism texts of the same type.It is hoped that the achievements of this translation will burgeon the tourism of Xiangxi and bring the ethnic culture to the world.
