The Study On Huizhou Women’s Biography In The Ming And Qing Dynasties

Huizhou women in the Ming and Qing dynasties were a special group of women.They were bound by moral ethics and received female moral education from an early age.The Huizhou clan also put forward strict requirements on Huizhou women’s words and deeds.They were typical representatives of traditional women.There were fewer records of women in historical books,but the atmosphere of female biographies had emerged in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,many female biographical materials have been retained,which have provided the possibility for revealing female groups.The study on Huizhou women’s biographies in this article attempts to start from the biographies itself,and analyzes the relevant facts of Huizhou female biographies from three aspects of biographers,the content of biographies and the characters in the biographies.Regard to biographers,kinship,friendship,the other’s request of writting a biography and Official reward had become their creative motivations.When I carefully study the locality and identity of biographers,I can find that most of them were native of Huizhou,and also included some non-Huizhou people who had good friendship with Huizhou people,they were quite famous,and in the officialdom.Huizhou people asked them to write biographies for their family members,which was in line with the Huizhou people’s psychology for loving reputation.Regard to the content of biographies,Huizhou women’s biographies recorded the deeds of Huizhou women,including filial piety to elder,management to family and livelihood,nurture to children,persistence to chastity and sacrifice,help for the needy and brave behavior.They not only showed the daily life of Huizhou women,but also paid attention to other aspects of their lives.Regard to the characters in the biographies,roughly categorized by marital status and deed type so that we can have a detailed and in-depth understanding of the characteristics of the characters.Huizhou women’s biographies are categorized according to text type,including women’s biographies in normal history,miscellaneous biographies and biographical prose.Each text has a different writing style,writing content,writing object,and writing reason,this is the distinctive feature of the text.Based on a specific analysis of the biographies of Huizhou women in the Ming and Qing dynasties,attention is paid to the special aspects of their content records,the portrayal of the image of Huizhou businessmen’s wife,the Huizhou women’s choice about chastity and sacrifice,and the writing of the image of bad women all deserve attention.In the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Huizhou Women’s biographies had its own characteristics.The records of women biographies of Huizhou in different texts are different,so the records.of these texts can complement each other.In addition,Huizhou women’s biographies record a variety of Huizhou women’s images,reflecting the diversity of Huizhou women’s images,and there are similarities between these various women’s images.At the same time,due to the special characteristics of Huizhou women and the regional characteristics of Huizhou,the regional uniqueness of Huizhou women’s biographies cannot be ignored.The large number of biographies of loyal and spirited women,the description of Huizhou businessmen’s wife,and the influence of Huizhou Regional Society on the writing of female biography are all the unique features of Huizhou women’s biographies.
