A Study On Leakage Problem Of The Official's History Recording In The Tang Dynasty

The Tang dynasty is an important stage in the development of the ancient Chinese system of historiography,the establishment of a new national system of historiography composed of independent history halls and full-time historiographers.The new system had played positive role for setting up the orthodox and stabling political situation in the early tang dynasty,and also pushed the revisionist history status to new heights.Because of the official history compiling that became the mainstream of the compilation of historical books replacing the private revisionist history and the national history of the dynasty was systematically and systematically compiled,the official practice system began to expose its shortcomings during the reign of Emperor Gaozong.The main performance is the withdrawal of personal affairs officials and the history of the issue of"leakage".After half a century without effective containment,Zhangyue and Wujing working on history outside the history building had caused Li yuanhong to emphasize the importance of secret work in it.But the problem of leakage had not changed.Although the Emperor Gaozong,Liu zhiji and others were aware of the seriousness of the leakage problem,there were no concrete measures to carry out except the high-sounding imperial edicts.The regulations on the leakage crime in the imperial decrees were not reflected in the history writing.This situation seems to run counter to the practice of attaching great importance to the revision of history in the early tang dynasty,which reflects that the official revision of history in the Tang dynasty is in a serious but not strict state.Even so,the prime minister of the Tang dynasty showed a strong awareness of preventing leakage in the course of the history "revision,especially in the process of leading the current politics.As a result,it is the general trend that discussing politics in the unofflcial place no longer allows personal officials to participate.The behavior of individual prime ministers cannot be completely explained by selfishness.Compared with the direct prohibition on the specific prevention and control of leakage put forward by the historian and the historian,the prime minister's role in the maintenance of history can be looked upon as the indirect function.In fact,the Tang dynasty's historiography system is a binary opposition that including a kind of serious but not strict state and a way with indirect function,because of the existence of the leakage problem provides a way to maintain the ruling class together in the era that people desire to participate in the national history writing but also have the fear of it and the centralized autocratic government is still developing.It maximizes the benefit of compiling history.After all,there are many interests involved in the compilation of national history.Compared with the historians,prime ministers and emperors who can directly participate in the compilation of national history,those more numerous bureaucratic groups that are not related to the compilation of history can only directly and indirectly influence the compilation of history through public and private channels.The leakage problem is one of the products of this influence.Therefore,even if the emperor and the prime minister who are competing on the issue of history also have the idea and action to contain the leakage problem,they can't completely prevent it from happening.The system of historiography also changed up to the Song dynasty which after the time of Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms and a new round of power restructuring.The specialization of the history department weakened the inherent rights and responsibilities ef the historiographers,the emperor firmly grasped the control of the history compiling that reduced the situation of the chancellor's full intervention,and the leakage problem in the historiographers was also governed.
