A Study On The Female Words In Chinese And Japanese News Report From The Perspective Of Gender

"Gender and Language"is the topic of the widespread concern by sociolinguistics and the study is growing rapidly.The study of words focusing on depicting men and women has been one of the trends in gender and language studies.But after considering the present research situation,taking female words as the research object,there are not many studies on the cultural connotation of female characters themselves,especially the comparative study of Chinese and Japanese related phenomena.This paper takes the female words in Chinese and Japanese news reports as the research object,and classifies them into female occupation words,female nicknames,female external physical characteristic and gender-oriented words,female activities names and other words.Then analyzing all kinds of words by qualitative and quantitative research methods.The findings are as follows: Female occupation words reflect the types of social production that women engage in,whether they are typical members of the profession and the public’s belief of the position of women in society;Female nicknames reflect the cognitive characteristics of female characters in society.Female external physical characteristic words reflect the external image characteristics of women that people expect.Female gender-oriented words reflect the emphasis of social evaluation of female personality,behavior and personality.The female activity names reflect the social needs of Chinese and Japanese women.Some of the other words reflect the language phenomenon of projecting the traditional female image into the natural and social environment in both China and Japan,and some reflect the existence of the male-centered social consciousness in the language From the perspective of social gender,this paper systematically outlines the cultural similarities and differences between Chinese and Japanese societies on the issue of women by summarizing the cultural connotations of various female words.This is not only a linguistic comparison,but also a cultural comparison.It is an attempt made in the comparative study of Chinese and Japanese words.This paper consists of six parts: Chapter one is the introduction.Chapter two to chapter five study on the female occupation words,female nicknames,female external physical characteristic and gender-oriented words,female activities names and other words.The last chapter is the conclusion.
