Moral decision making is a process in which decision-makers identify and judge moral problems and take actions under the constraints of social ethics. From the rationalist theory of Piaget and Kohlberg over the social intuition theory of Haidt,to the double processing theory of Greene;from paying attention to the cognitive factors of rational reasoning in moral decision-making to paying attention to the emotional factors, and then to paying equal attention to the cognition and emotional emotion, the theories in the field of morality are constantly being proposed, which adds new contents to moral psychology. The dual-processing model holds that people's moral judgment is influenced by both cognition and emotion, which share the equal importance, and show different processing biases towards different moral issues.Cognition and emotion function in parallel and complement each other, the competition between which results in the moral decision. This study explored the emotional response in moral decision making.By using the process separation method and the moral dilemma stories in consistent and inconsistent situations compiled by Conway as the experimental material, the moral decision-making tendency of the subjects was calculated independently.Study 1:a questionnaire was applied to investigate the individual's empathic ability and its four dimensions, and the moral decision-making tendency and the positive and negative emotions generated in the process of moral decision-making.Study 2:as an emotion regulation strategy, the method of cognitive reappraisal was employed to intervene in the emotional responses of individuals in.moral decision-making,and the changes of their moral decision-making tendency were studied. The results indicated that:(1)regarding the influence of gender on moral decision-making,the deontological tendency of female college students was stronger than that of male, while there was no gender difference in utilitarian tendency.(2)on the whole, college students' empathic ability was at a moderately high level, and grade variables had an impact on their empathic ability.(3)there are differences in positive emotions perceived by individuals with differences in gender, whether they are the only child or not,and grade variables in moral decision-making;There are differences in the negative emotions perceived by individuals with differences in the variables of origin and grade when they make moral decisions.(4)empathy is positively correlated with thedeontological tendency and the utilitarian tendency of moral decision-making.(5)negative emotional response plays a part in mediating between empathic ability and deontological tendency.(6)cognitive reappraisal strategy can effectively reduce negative emotional reactions in moral decision-making,but it cannot affect moral decision-making tendency.
