As a kind of life phenomenon,aging is widely permeated in many fields of society,culture,philosophy,art and daily life,so is literature.But in literary works,aging has a richer connotation.It is not only regarded as an individual life experience to write,but also is often used as a rhetorical device or metaphor.This paper focuses on the contemporary Chinese novels to analyze the connotation of aging metaphor.The first chapter of the article combs the experience of aging,the choice of the characters,and the overall attitude towards aging in specific works.In the second chapter,through the analysis of several common types of aging metaphor in literature,we explore the phenomenon that aging,as a life experience,is often symbolized,metaphorized and symbolized by writers,and explore the hidden social and cultural connotation.The third chapter is to analyze and convey the narrative strategies used in some novels which alienate aging into "the other'.The fourth chapter puts forward the criticism of aging metaphor and lists some new directions that may reshape aging metaphor.Systematic metaphor constructs our behavior and thought,and aging metaphor is also a way of cognitive aging.But this kind of cognition of aging does not mean a completely rational cognition.There are many "blind spots" in the metaphor of aging in contemporary literary creation.At the same time,the connotation of "down" in contemporary aging metaphor is gradually eroding the connotation of "up".On the one hand,this trend reflects the change of cognitive trend in the transformation of Chinese contemporary society.it also has the special cultural background of Chinese contemporary literature in the whole literary history.The purpose of this paper is to call for a rational understanding of aging by analyzing,refining and criticizing the metaphor of aging in contemporary literature.
