Feminism translation theory combines feminism with translation theory, trying to break the subordination of women and translators. In addition,it also advocates translators to bring their subjectivity into play to commit “creative treason”.Luise von Flotow's feminism translation theory advocates translators to “rewrite” the original text by adopting the translation strategies of “prefacing, footnoting, supplementing and hijacking”,in order to reflect their feminine consciousness and construct the discourse right of women.Margaret Atwood is an influential Canadian woman writer in the contemporary world literary world. Some of her works have been translated into more than 20 languages and published in more than 25 countries. Her novel,The Handmaid's Tale, won the Canadian Governor General's Literary Award. The novel takes female as the theme and describes the life as well as psychological state of women in Gilead. In this thesis, the author uses Margret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale as a study, adopts descriptive method to explore the translation strategies from the perspective of feminist translation strategies, and analyzes the extent to which different translation strategies highlight the translator's feminine consciousness. The results show that prefacing, footnoting, supplementing and hijacking are reflected in the target text.Among these translation strategies, the most frequently used translation strategy is supplementing and the least is hijacking. The translator uses supplementing to translate women's psychological activities, clothing, actions, expressions and dialogues. The translator uses footnoting to translate the Bible, personal names and scrabble.By applying the translation strategies of footnoting and supplementing, the translator not only complements the missing information in the process of cultural communication, but also helps the readers to understand the oppressed female image in the original text. The translator uses hijacking to rewrite part of the description of the female oppressed image in the original text, highlights the positive image of female characters and improves women's status.
