Since her debut onto London's new writing scene in the spring of 2003,debbie tucker green has now been widely recognized as one of the most stylistically innovative and politically engaged(black)British(woman)playwrights of the early twenty-first century.Noting that the theatrical characteristics embodied in green's plays resonate and arrive at a confluence with Hans-Thies Lehmann's contemplation on the modern theatre after the twentieth century, this thesis, using the theoretical apparatus of postdramatic theatre provided by Hans-Thies Lehmann, aims to bring to the fore green's sharp insight and criticism on global, specifically African and Caribbean issues with close reference to sociological analyses of the human rights issues through her characters in an aesthetics of trauma by the interpretation of t her three representative works born bad(2003),trade(2004)and generations(2005)so as to awaken the audience from the society that has long been numbed by the media and encourage them to take actions against the violence caused by the inability to love and care for others in the contemporary worldThe whole paper is divided into five parts, which is arranged as follows:it first starts with a sketch of debbie tucker green's life trajectory, artistic career and an overview of her literary creation,an introduction to Lehmann's theory about postdramatic theatre and a brief illustration of research situation of domestic and foreign scholars on the works of debbie tucker green.Chapter Two discusses the feature of "audio landscape" of green's theatre embodied in the overall arrangement of the assuredly innovative stage design and her highly stylized use of language,in which the hegemony of the text is dissolved and the dominant role of the theatre instead is assigned to other non-literary theatre elements such as voices, sounds and visual spaces, thus providing audience with a rich and energetic stimulation to their auditory and visual senses.Chapter Three goes deeper into the discussion by focusing on green's theatre's feature of "realness" represented by the disillusionment of the fictive cosmos It contends that by creating a situation where the viewer and the performer are physically, emotionally and spatially connected, green's theatre resets the relationship between them and shows the new possibilities of participation and interaction.Chapter Four talks about the political force of green's theatre.Subtly connected with social and political realities outside the theatre such as class conflicts, oppression, power disputes and wars, green's theatre attempts to awaken the audience from the society that has long been numbed by the media and see and feel the capitalist ugliness close at home and their own blame and encourages them to take actions against the violence in the contemporary world. And the last is the Conclusion part.
