Wang Xiaobo’s course of growth is closed linked to Taiwanese literary circles.Wang Xiaobo had won twice the Fiction Award of United Daily News,which allowed him and his works to "reversely input" into the mainland,leading to his rise to fame.Wang Xiaobo had received attention in the Taiwanese press,publishing,as well as academic circles,and had made a certain impact.Study of the reception history of Wang Xiaobo in Taiwan,therefore,bears specific cultural value.Under the cultural context of Taiwan in the 1990s featuring both alienation and more interactions with the mainland and the gradual decline of newspaper supplement,Wang Xiaobo’s rise on the edge of discourse power is inevitably affected by ideology.This paper is focused on the reception study of Wang Xiaobo in Taiwan field and is divided into five chapters.The first chapter elaborated on the cultural context of Taiwan in the 1990s and Wang Xiaobo’s admission to the literary circle.The author discussed the encounter between Wang Xiaobo and Taiwan by looking into the cultural context and award-winning mechanism of Taiwan at that time.The second chapter studied the force behind the discovery of the writer and pushed him to the front:Taiwan’s newspaper industry and Wang Xiaobo.The author studied the image shaping of Wang Xiao by the two major newspapers of Taiwan--United Daily News and China Times.The third chapter:from passive to active.The author looked into the change of strategies in Taiwanese publication circle on the publishing of Wang Xiaobo’s works before and after his death;The fourth chapter was focused on ideology and the essence of literature:Wang Xiaobo from the perspective of Taiwanese academic research.The author mainly discussed the research and discipline by Taiwanese academic circle on Wang Xiaobo from different angles including reflection on revolutionary ideology,liberalism,black comedy,existentialism,and sadomasochism subculture.The fifth chapter summarized the historical changes of Wang Xiaobo’s status in the literary world and made an outlook on the prospect of his reception.
