Report On The Google Translation And Post-editing Under The Power Echo

Introducing Interpreting Studies is an academic monograph on interpreting by Franz Pochhacker.The second edition is a revision,reconstruction and update of the first edition.In order to meet the needs of learners,the translation of the second edition is urgently needed to be published.The writer is honored to participate in the translation of Chapter 5,Chapter 6 and Chapter 8 and the proofreading of Chapter 3 of the second edition.This task aims at matching the content of the second with first edition of Introducing Interpreting Studies with the help of the corpora of Power echo,clarifying the new content of the second edition,translating with Google translation,using human post-editing and four reviews to ensure the quality.Based on the author's translation practice,the first chapter of this report introduces the background of this task.The second chapter deals with the preparation,including tools,references,corpora and terminology.The third chapter analyzes the deficiencies of Google translation with lots of examples,such as Westernised Chinese language,cohesive questions,coherence problems and anaphoric problems,so as to reflect the importance of post-editing.The fourth chapter is about reviews and evaluation.The fifth chapter summarizes the author's gains and deficiencies of this report.Under the guidance of transliteration,Westernised Chinese language classification,Halliday and Hassan's cohesion and coherence theory,the author uses a large number of examples to analyze and correct Google's translation,further explaining the author's thinking and exploration about the techniques and theories.In view of the professionalism of Introducing Interpreting Studies,limited time and heavy task,using google translation and post-editing can improve work efficiency,which is also the goal the author intends to achieve.Through this translation practice,the author hopes to provide Chinese translation for scholars,teachers,students and interpreters who are interested in this monograph.
