In modern China, the trend of nationalism is turbulent.Since the May 4thMovement,the student population has begun to move towards the political arena and has become an important role in influencing the political trend of modern China. After the outbreak of liberation war,the Kuomintang and the Communist Party have qualitatively different ideas about China in the future. The extreme ideological confrontation has caused continuous struggles between the two parties, and the university campus has become a battlefield between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. To this end,the two parties of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party permeated their organizational tentacles and ideology into the university campus, and on this basis, they waged struggles, and formed a magnificent campus political culture.Yenching University was founded by the American church and deeply influenced by American democratic and free culture. At the same time,it came into being in the period of May 4th movement when nationalism was surging. Therefore, since its establishment,Yenching University has a democratic, free and revolutionary tradition of campus culture.Under the leadership of President Stuart Leiden,Yenching University always adheres to the philosophy of "being free to serve for the truth",which makes Yenching University always diffuse the trend of democracy and freedom. Before and after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War,the National Government attempted to use party education, training and other means to strengthen the control of college students. However,Yenching University only has a student life guidance committee to strengthen management of student life and other aspects,so the KMT's influence in Yan University is weak.On the contrary, the progressive forces are very powerful at Yenching University. The Yenching University branch of the Communist Party of China and the peripheral organizations of the Communist Party of China have successively developed in Yenching University, and on this basis, they have formed progressive societies, carried out progressive cultural activities, read progressive books such as Marxism, and greatly promoted the spread of progressive ideas and made revolutionary progress. The spirit floats on campus. In addition, fellowship is a unique student organization for church universities. The cultivation of friendship and academic discussions are the center of fellowship content. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War,the Yenching University Fellowship was gradually controlled by progressive students or formed by progressive students,so the fellowship activities became more revolutionary.Co-friends learn from each other Marxist theory, appreciate and read progressive literary works and movies, and actively participate in the revolutionary torrent of the student movement.Through these activities,Yenching University students are imbued with revolutionary ideas invisibly, thereby enhancing the political consciousness of fellow friends, thus forming a new campus fellowship political culture of Yenching University. From 1945 to 1949,the student movement surged.Yenching University students have always been at the forefront of the anti-civil war and fighting for democracy, and have effectively cooperated with the student movement of the Kuomintang District by publishing posters, club performances, and news propaganda. The Kuomintang three youth league members, secret service students, and other members of the Communist Party of China on the Yenching Univers ity campus launched a confrontational struggle, thus forming a new campus political and cultural life.In summary, such a democratic, free and revolutionary campus culture promotes the rapid development of progressive forces, which in turn makes Yenching University melting pot for the cultivation of revolutionary cadres and delivers a large number of revolutionary talents to the liberated areas. To some extent, this campus culture atmosphere is a microcosm of the campus culture of most universities at that time.Yenching University students finally chose to greet the arrival of New China with the Communist Party of China when choosing between going to stay.
