The international sports events China has hosted since 2000 served as great stage on which China displayed itself to the world,particularly its sports capacity and culture.However,there have been only a limited number of sports items of Chinese culture in international sports events,let alone Chinese folk sports items,which leaves a blank in the communication of Chinese sports culture.To fill the blank entails studies and practices of folk sports translation.Provincial games is one of important platforms for folk sports items and studies of C-E translation of its publicity materials is of great significance.In the report,the translator studies through practice the translation of the 15th Games of Jiangxi Province from the perspective of Communication Theory.In the hopes of spreading Chinese folk sports culture and regional features of Jiangxi Province,the translator adopts the strategy of transediting.Based on the strategy,the translator deleted or weakened less relevant contents and added proper explanations to important information.The 5W Model was applied to the analysis of the involved factors in the translation,a special communication activity.There are two communication initiators,that is the writers of original text and the translator who decide the contents to be communicated together.The information receiver of the process is target readers.Translation is a cross-culture and cross-language communicative activity.Satisfactory communication effect requires the translator to select contents from the source text according to her communication purpose,and complete the translation after analyzing reading habits and expectations and possible cultural default of target readers.Under the guidance of the knowledge above,the translator explored applicable methods for translation of news titles and slogans,headlines and bodies and phrases loaded with Chinese culture.Recreation,paraphrase and simplification were used in translation of news titles and slogans;deletion,generalization and addition were adopted to translation of headlines and bodies;literal translation,annotation and transliteration were applied to translation of phrases loaded with Chinese culture.
