The original text is selected from the book Under Pressure: Confronting the Epidemic of Stress and Anxiety in Girls, which has not been translated into Chinese version yet.The author Dr.Lisa Damour provides some psychological counseling cases in this book, and her language indicates an inventive and intuitive touch. The excerpted text focuses on the discussion that whether or not anxiety and stress are simply harmful. It serves as an introduction to several basic concepts and terms of anxiety and stress. With novel theme, comprehensive content, unique object, fluent language, and vivid cases, this practical and instructive book attracts people. It is even known as “the Guidance to Raise Happy Girls”.The dialogue, slang, rhetoric devices and psychological terms in the book build the characters and add aesthetic effect on its language. The translator explores the informative and communicative intentions of the writer according to Relevance Translation Theory, and then provides target readers with more clear contextual information.According to Relevance Translation Theory, translation is a process of reproducing the original text.Based on Relevance Translation Theory,a translation demands understanding of the author's intention. Therefore the translator must obtain and convey the context assumption, and explore the cognitive context of the original text. The concepts and viewpoints in Relevance Translation Theory can be applied in some translation text thoroughly. The translation report consists of four parts. The first part briefly introduces the translation tasks, including Translation Task,Text Introduction,About the Author, and Importance of This Translation Work.Chapter Two focuses on the translation process, including Preparation of Background Knowledge,Relevance Translation Theory Applied in the Report and How to Produce the Final Report.Chapter Three is about case-studying,namely the core part, which includes some cases and related analyses under the guidance of Relevance Translation Theory. The translator studies on the selected cases from the three aspects: accuracy, correctness and logic implementation. In the rest of this report, the conclusion is written by the translator's experience and further understanding of the translation theory.Through this translation practice, the translator has a profound understanding of translation work.Qualified translation work requires translator's ability for searching information, patient revision, and some readers' feedback. At the same time, the translator understands that only by integrating theory into practice, could it be a qualified translation. When the original text is closely combined with its translation, the target-language readers could easily get the information and emotion of the original text.
