In recent years,relevant policies and some strategic ideas conveyed by the state show that the protection of traditional culture is highly valued by the state.Holding a festival is an effective means of inheriting and protecting traditional culture.Holding a festival can not only promote the political,economic and cultural development of the city,but also shape the brand image of the city.Therefore,the importance of holding festivals in various regions is increasing.It is hoped that while protecting cultural resources and promoting cultural heritage,we will create a unique image through local culture and create a unique geographical brand.With the continuous development of the festival and the improvement of people's spiritual and cultural needs,the festival design also needs to keep pace with the development of the festival,providing the public with a more geographical and visual experience and cultural experience.Based on the cultural and regional culture of the festival,this paper will study the cultural design of the festival from the perspective of design semiotics,aiming to improve the level of cultural design of the festival,and find the method of cultural design of the festival from a new perspective,so as to improve the festival.The brand image helps the development and dissemination of the festival.Firstly,the thesis studies the related theories of design semiotics and the theory of cultural design of festivals.Secondly,it analyzes four representative cases of domestic and international conventions,finds its advantages and values in the development process,and provides the subsequent design practice.reference.Based on the above research,the process and method of festival cultural design are analyzed from the perspective of design semiotics,and the correlation between the two is found,which provides theoretical guidance for subsequent design practice.Finally,through case analysis and theoretical research,we analyze the kite culture symbols and representative regional cultural symbols from Weifang from the perspective of design semiotics,and apply the research results to the 2020 Weifang International Kite Festival for final design practice..This paper aims to improve the cultural design level of the Weifang International Kite Festival by applying the design Semiotic theory to the cultural design of the festival,providing a new perspective for the cultural design of the festival,and based on the design practice of the Weifang International Kite Festival in 2020.At the same time,it provides a little theoretical reference and practical guidance value for other festival cultural designs.
