| With the development of maritime industry and the media industry,maritime news report is not only available on traditional media but on new media such as public websites now.Readers can easily obtain the information from maritime news report via various channels.However,it is still difficult for some readers who lack of knowledge of maritime news report to understand the texts.Therefore,keywords in maritime news report are chosen as the subject of the study.This thesis explores the classification and distribution features,as well as the collocation features of the keywords in maritime news report applying basic approaches of corpus linguistics.With the assistance of WordSmith and AntConc toolkit,a comparison between a self-built maritime news report corpus(MNRC)and the reference corpus Corpus of Contemporary American English was made to generate a list of keywords.The keywords were firstly classified.The distribution features and collocation features of the keywords then were analyzed.The main findings are as follows.Firstly,the keywords of maritime news reports are mostly related to shipping or maritime business and the majority of the keywords are nouns.Secondly,the shared maritime keywords are more business-related than maritime-related;most of the peculiar maritime keywords and the hapax keywords are nouns from various maritime domains.Thirdly,some collocation features of lexical keywords are found regarding the complex premodification to the nouns and the fixed collocations of verbs and adjectives.This study has pedagogical implications for maritime English learning.Besides,it helps the understanding of maritime news report. |
