The War of Japanese Aggression in Korea 1592-1598(Renchen War/Imjin War)was an international war that spread to the whole northeast Asia from 1592 AD.It had a profound influence on the whole east Asia at that time and in later generations. In this war,the Xuanda soldiers from Xuanda region of China actively participated in the fight against the Japanese invasion, especially when the Japanese army invaded Korea for the second time, the performance of Xuanda soldiers was especially brilliant.Previous studies on its assistance to the Joseon dynasty are relatively scarce, and there are some breakthroughs to be made.In addition, the Xuanda soldiers themselves are a group worthy of study. They were deeply involved in the East Asian war in the late 16th century. The study of the Xuanda soldiers' is not only an academic issue in the history of China, but also in the history of east Asia.In this paper, the official history, tablet inscription, genealogy, archives, local records, political books, anthology, notes and other materials, combined with field research, sorted out the general situation of the Xuanda soldiers who received two times of military aid, focused on the analysis of the life histories of the major generals who took part in the war,and restored their historical image into a relatively clear look.In addition, this paper focuses on the specific war history of these Xuanda soldiers, such as the battle of Pyongyang, the battle of Kaeseong,Byeokjegwan battle,Jigsan battle, the first battle of Ulsan, the second battle of Ulsan,Sacheon battle. In the past, although academic circles have accumulated many achievements in these war histories, there are some problems in the past research:due to different emphasis,Chinese scholars have not made careful use of Japanese historical materials, and Japanese and Korean scholars have not fully used Ming Dynasty historical materials,so they have no consensus on many issues, and there are some mistakes. This paper makes use of all kinds of historical materials of Ming Dynasty,Korea and Japan, especially the primary sources,to try to clarify the relevant issues of these wars and the war history of Xuanda soldiers.During the period when the Xuanda soldiers were stationed on the Korean peninsula, they also interacted with the local central and local officials, troops, and people, and had a profound impact on the Korean society. After the war,the Joseon dynasty officials also commemorated it to a certain extent.Besides, some of the descendants of Xuanda soldiers moved to Korea after the fall of the Ming dynasty. This paper attempts to analyze the situation of their descendants in Korea, and compares them with the descendants of Li Rusong, the general of Liaodong,or other native generals who immigrated to Korea,to analyze the differences in their treatment and the causes. Moreover, the descendants of Xuanda soliders, such as descendants of Ma Gui,Dong Yiyuan, still exist in China and thrive in their hometowns. The descendants of Xuanda soliders of China and Korea have undergone completely different changes in the culture of inheriting their ancestors and the memory of their ancestors. This article compares the difference between the descendants of Xuanda soliders of China and Korea, and analyzes the causes.Based on this, this article further studies the Xuanda soliders in the historical memories of China and Korea, and finds that the image of Xuanda soliders is gradually desolate in the Korean Peninsula and China after the war.As far as the Korean peninsula is concerned, this is certainly related to the first impression that Liao Bing and Nan Bing came to aid for the first time, but it is also related to the fact that Joseon dynasty officials played a role in the review and construction of the war culture after the war.In China, the descendants of Xuanda soldiers, due to the fall of the Ming dynasty, the Qing government held a negative attitude towards Imjin war(1592-1598)as a whole. The gradual disintegration of the Wei-suo system(Defense system)also made them lose the fundamental soil on which they relied for survival, and their merits were also ignored.Eventually, both China and Korea gradually forgot about them.
