During the speech, orators often pay attention to the voice's rising and falling in cadence and speed;during the singing, singers will change their tone and intensity to make their voices more varied and pleasant;in daily life, people are attentively on whether their voices are considered pleasant and comfortable, and change their voices' loud and speed at the same time.Actually, these phenomena mentioned above involved an important psychological concept-"voice attractiveness".Voice attractiveness refers to the degree to which the voice of the target person induces a positive and pleasant emotional experience and drives others to come close to them.Previous studies have shown that voice attractiveness plays a unique role in social activities and interpersonal relationships.By evaluating voice attractiveness, listeners can predict the speaker's personality characteristics and socio-economic status, evaluate the speaker's leadership, and establish and maintain intimate relationships in interpersonal communication. However, the current research on voice attractiveness mainly focuses on others, but neglects the research on self In fact self-voice has different processing patterns from others both in recognition and perception of behavior and physiological characteristics,so self-voice attractiveness may also have different evaluation mechanisms when compared with others.Based on this, our studies will systematically investigate the evaluation bias of self-voice attractiveness and its mechanism through cognitive behavioral technology. The research includes three studies:Study 1 compared the differences in the attractiveness evaluation between self-voice and other people's voice, and compared the similarities and differences of the two kinds of voice attractiveness evaluation under different gender backgrounds(same-sex and opposite-sex);Through the adopt of the self-referential valence task and the adding of the familiar voice, study 2 deeply explored the internal mechanism of self-voice attractiveness evaluation bias, that is,the evaluation bias of self-voice attractiveness comes from self-positive cognition or familiarity effect,or the joint effect of the two;The third study further verified whether this specific evaluation mechanism can be popularized, that is,whether this evaluation mechanism can be generalized to self-similar voices. The results of three parts showed that there is a specific processing mechanism for people's self-voice attractiveness evaluation. The concrete results are as following:(1)People tend to overestimate self-voice,showing a higher level of self-evaluation than the general level, that is,people will evaluate self-voice more attractive than others, and also more attractive than others do;(2)In both same-sex and opposite-sex settings, the overestimate evaluation bias for the voice of the self was stable, with both men and women finding the voice of the self more attractive than that of others. The difference is that in the same-sex background, male's evaluation of the voice attractiveness of the same-sex others is significantly higher than that of female's evaluation, but this difference was not found in the heterosexual background. In addition, men and women in the same-sex and heterosexual background showed an opposite evaluation trend;(3)Overestimate evaluation bias of voice attractiveness may be affected by both familiarity and self-positive cognition. The current research found that self-positive cognition rather than familiarity effect can better support the self-positive bias of voice attractiveness evaluation;(4)The overestimate bias of self-voice evaluation can be generalized to self-similar voice evaluation, that is,people tend to evaluate the voices more similar to themselves as more attractive. In conclusion, this study systematically discussed the evaluation bias of self-voice and its mechanism from three aspects:behavioral characteristics, internal mechanism and extensibility.Theoretically, the results of this study can not only enrich the research field of voice attraction, but also help to expand the research connotation of psychoacoustics. In practice, this study can provide new thinking and suggestion for the design of voice-related products and voice training for different people.
