Objective: Exploring the effects of interpersonal sensitivity on aggressive behavior:the role of anger and ruminant thinking. Methods: A total of 1021 undergraduates and postgraduates from a university in henan province were studied by questionnaire and experiment. The questionnaire used Interpersonal Relationship Sensitivity Subscale,Ruminant Thinking Scale,Trait Anger and State Anger Scale, and Aggressive Behavior Questionnaire to explore the mediating effect of trait anger and state anger on interpersonal relationship sensitivity on aggressive behavior and the moderating effect of ruminant thinking. In the experiment,Ruminant/Distraction Task was used to induce the subjects’ ruminant thinking and Hot Sauce Assignment experiment was used to measure the subjects’ aggressive behavior. From the first study,102 subjects with high or low interpersonal sensitivity were selected to participate in the experiment(45 males and 57 females). To explore the influence of interpersonal sensitivity and ruminative thinking on aggression induced by anger. Results: 1.Trait anger plays a mediating role in the influence of interpersonal sensitivity on the scores of physical aggression, verbal aggression and total aggression, with mediating effects of 54.55%,58.33% and 53.57%,respectively;State anger plays a partial mediating role in the influence of interpersonal sensitivity on the scores of physical aggression, verbal aggression and total aggression, with mediating effects of 36.36%,33.33% and 32.14%,respectively.2.Rumination plays a moderating role in the influence of interpersonal sensitivity on aggression through the mediation of trait anger.Ruminant thinking plays a moderating role in the direct path of interpersonal sensitivity to physical aggression and total aggression.Specifically, interpersonal sensitivity had a stronger impact on physical aggression and aggression behavior under high ruminant thinking(β=-0.08,t=2.59,p < 0.05,β=-0.06,t=3.77,p< 0.01)than under low ruminant thinking(β=-0.08,t=5.23,p < 0.01,β=-0.06,t=5.50,p < 0.01).3.Rumination moderates the second half and direct path of interpersonal sensitivity’s influence on aggressive behavior through the mediation of state anger.Ruminant thinking regulates the effects of state anger on physical aggression, verbal aggression and aggressive behavior.Specifically, compared with low ruminant thinking(β=0.10,t=2.10,p < 0.05,β=0.09,t=1.48,p > 0.05,β=0.12,t=2.22,p < 0.05),high ruminant thinking had a stronger impact on aggression behavior(β=0.10,t=6.24,p < 0.01,β=0.09,t=6.01,p < 0.01,β=0.12,t=7.85,p < 0.01).Ruminant thinking regulates the effects of interpersonal sensitivity on physical aggression, verbal aggression and aggressive behavior.Specifically, compared with low thinking in ruminant(β= 0.09,t = 2.59,p < 0.05,β= 0.06,t = 3.53,p < 0.01,β= 0.09,t = 3.77,p< 0.01),high thinking in ruminant had a stronger influence on interpersonal sensitivity to physical aggression, verbal aggression and aggressive behavior.(β=0.09,t = 5.23,p < 0.01,β= 0.06,t = 3.60,p < 0.01,β= 0.09,t = 5.50,p < 0.01).4.Anger induced, the main effect of sensitive interpersonal relationship on attack score is significant(F = 5.97,p= 0.02),the main effect of ruminant thinking on aggressive behavior score is significant(F=23.56,p=0.00),the sensitive interpersonal relationship between high and low, ruminant thinking between high and low on the attack score interaction is not significant(F =0.21,p=0.65).Under the condition of low ruminant thinking, the score of aggression in the group with high interpersonal sensitivity is significantly higher than that of the group with low interpersonal sensitivity(t=2.60,p=0.01).Under high ruminant thinking, this difference is not significant(t=1.00,p=0.32).In the group with low interpersonal relationship sensitivity, the score of aggressive behavior in the group with high ruminant thinking is significantly higher than that of the group with low ruminant thinking(t=2.49,p=0.02).In the group with high interpersonal sensitivity, this difference is not significant(t=-0.77,p=0.45).Conclusion: 1.Interpersonal sensitivity can not only directly affect individual aggression, but also indirectly affect aggression through anger. This relationship is mediated by rumination.Specifically,in the case of high ruminant thinking, individuals’ interpersonal sensitivity and state anger have a stronger influence onaggressive behavior;2.When induced by anger, interpersonal sensitivity and rumination can positively predict aggressive behaviors.
