Meaning Construction Of The Classical Chinese Poetry In President Xi's Speeches From The Perspective Of Conceptual Blending Theory

Since the 19th National Congress,President Xi has delivered a series of important speeches.President Xi is good at making the past serve the present in quoting various classical Chinese poetry,which forms his own unique speaking style.The classical poetry is the treasure of traditional Chinese culture,and its simple characters contains rich emotions.The classical Chinese poetry give imaginary space to readers with its rich imagination.Hence,a great number of scholars at home and abroad conduct researches on the classical Chinese poetry from the perspectives of sociology,rhetoric,translation and so on.With the development of cognitive linguistics,many scholars have conducted researches from the cognitive perspective,but they mainly focus on the static aspect of language,lacking the analysis and research on the online meaning construction of the classical Chinese poetry.The Conceptual Blending Theory,proposed by Fauconnier and Turner,is a basic and universal cognitive way of human beings.It can explain the dynamic construction process of the linguistic meaning and has strong explanatory power.Therefore,it is feasible to apply the Conceptual Blending Theory to the meaning construction of the classical Chinese poetry.Therefore,based on the Conceptual Blending Theory,the author analyzes the meaning construction of the classical Chinese poetry in President Xi's twelve speeches downloaded from the official website by the quantitative method.In addition,the thesis analyzes the factors influencing the meaning construction of the classical Chinese poetry.Research findings are as follows.Firstly,the Conceptual Blending Theory also has strong explanatory power to the meaning construction of the classical Chinese poetry.Different classical Chinese Poetry is supposed to be interpreted with different conceptual blending network.The images of the poem can activate two input spaces,the partial elements and structures of the two input spaces are projected to the blended space through cross-space mapping and selective projection.Finally,through the composition,completion and elaboration,the emergent structure is established in the blended space,which realizes the meaning construction of the classical Chinese poetry.Secondly,based on the Conceptual Blending Theory,context,culture,individual cognitive ability and many others may influence the meaning construction of the classical Chinese poetry to some extent.The thesis explores the online meaning construction of the classical Chinese poetry from the conceptual blending perspective,which not only offers a completely new perspective for the study of the classical Chinese poetry,but also enriches the Conceptual Blending Theory.Compared with the traditional method of literary appreciation,the Conceptual Blending Theory has its advantages.It spatializes the conceptual category of human's minds and integrates the contextual knowledge,background knowledge and encyclopedia knowledge on a larger scale.Furthermore,it is significant to guide the teaching of the classical Chinese poetry.
