This translation material is extracted from Abundant Earth: Toward an Ecological Civilization, one of Eileen Crist's popular science books. The translation report is written on the basis of the translation of Chapter Nine.In this chapter, the author proposes that people should stand against human expansionism, restore abundant earth and march toward the real ecological civilization. The translation material belongs to popular science text, which is one of special scientific and technical texts. Its language possesses not only the preciseness and objectivity of science and technology text as well as certain literariness.Considering the beauty of the original author‘s language and the frequent use of rhetorical devices, the translator chooses appropriate translation strategies based on the ?three principles? of the Skopos theory during the translation,so that the translation can not only convey scientific information, conforming to the purpose of communication, but also retain the language beauty of the original text. This translation practice report consists of four parts. The first part introduces the translation task in detail. This part especially expounds the significance of the translation,in which the ecological civilization concept, proposed by the author, coincides with the ecological concept that ?Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets?,put forward by President Xi Jinping. The second part gives an overall description of the translation process, including the preparation, modification and finalization of the translation. The third part makes a detailed analysis of translation cases. The translator mainly analyzes the translation difficulties from the aspects of morphology, syntax, discourse and rhetoric, and summarizes the typical translation cases according to the specific context. The fourth part is the summary of the translation practice. The translator mainly summarizes translation experience in terms of practice gains, personal insights and future expectations.Through the translation practice, the translator deeply realizes that translation is a process of accumulation. In the process of translation,in order to better convey the writing intention of the original author, the translator not only needs to be familiar with the cultural background of the original text, but also needs to choose appropriate translation methods and strategies. To some extent, this translation practice improves translator‘s translation level as well as the comprehensive ability to use translation strategies.
