In today’s world,relationships among countries are becoming increasingly close,communications are also more frequent,at the same time,more and more attention has been paid to cultural exchanges.The study of literary works with characteristics is conducive to cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.The content of The Essential O.Henry Collection is easy to understand,involving western social atmosphere,etiquette,diet,religion,clothing and other western elements,which is really helpful to broaden horizons and make cultural connotation much richer.The feature of O.Henry’s short story is the "unexpected ending"---result will not be revealed until the last moment.Through dramatic plots,clever foreshows and contradictions of characters,the novel always presents an unexpected ending to the readers.After reading this book carefully,six popular stories have been selected from The Essential O.Henry Collection(published by The Commercial Press).During the translating process,it is found that the original text contains many forms of expression with strong cultural characteristics,many long and complicated sentences and multiple words,which increase the translating difficulty significantly.From the perspective of the dialectical unity of domestication and foreignization,it is not impossible to use one strategy all the time,the two strategies should be used correspondingly and serve the translation together.Dynamic balance between original text and translation also should be found as much as possible,meanwhile,through analyzing vocabulary,syntax,rhetoric and other aspects,translation methods can be understood deeply,thus readers can understand Chinese and foreign cultural differences and let translation readers feel as close as possible to the original text readers.At the same time,I hope to provide valuable translation reference for the,selected six novels.
