Language is the carrier of culture.To learn a language well,you also need to understand the national culture behind the language.The Chinese nation has experienced thousands of years of history,forming a unique traditional culture,and the Chinese traditional culture is still reflected in all aspects of Chinese social life.Therefore,to learn Chinese well and communicate smoothly with Chinese people,we must understand and learn Chinese traditional culture.In recent years,with the increasing frequency of political,economic,and cultural exchanges between China and Kenya,more and more Kenyans have begun to learn Chinese and are interested in traditional Chinese culture.However,there is relatively little research on traditional culture teaching at the Confucius Institute in Kenya.Therefore,this article mainly takes the Confucius Institute at Kenyatta University as an example,investigates and analyzes the traditional culture teaching of the Confucius Institute at Kenyatta University through questionnaires,comparative analysis and other methods,and finds the problems in traditional culture teaching.Proposed corresponding suggestions.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the background and significance of the topic selection,relevant research review,research contents and research methods.The second part is the basic concepts and theories,which mainly define the traditional Chinese culture.The relationship between the teaching of traditional Chinese culture,cultural dissemination,and cross-cultural dissemination in the Confucius Institute is also analyzed.The third part mainly describes the current situation of Kenyatta University's teaching,including curriculum setting,use of teaching materials,teaching methods,and teachers.The fourth part mainly surveys and analyzes the traditional culture teaching of the students and teachers of the Confucius Institute at Kenyatta University in the form of the questionnaire.The fifth part mainly summarizes the investigation and analysis of the fourth part,and puts forward questions and suggestions from the five aspects of traditional culture teaching in the traditional culture teaching of the Confucius Institute at Kenyatta University,including curriculum setting,textbooks selecting and compiling,teaching methods,traditional culture activities and training of traditional culture talents,for example,in the settingof Chinese traditional culture courses,some traditional culture courses should be added appropriately,and the traditional culture courses should be set up in stages and in stages;in the selection and compilation of traditional culture textbooks,attention should be paid to clarifying the applicable objects of the textbooks and cross-cultural awareness;in the teaching method of traditional culture,it is necessary to use the appropriate method in accordance with the actual situation;in the holding of traditional cultural activities,it is necessary to increase the sense of activity experience and encourage students to participate in the preparation of activities;In the cultivation of traditional cultural talents,domestic universities should pay attention to the cultivation of Chinese international education majors in the traditional Chinese culture.The sixth part is the summary of the full text.
