Marlowe is a playwright in the history of English literature,occupying an important position in the history of the British Renaissance drama.There are many achievements in the foreign Marlowe study,and there are still many spaces to explore in the domestic Marlow study.This thesis takes "identity" as the starting point,and uses the theory of identity and relevant theories in the fields of literature,psychology and sociology to systematically study the paradox of Marlowe's drama identity,and expects to expand the research of Marlow's research.This thesis is divided into three parts: introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction briefly reviews the research situation of Marlowe drama at home and abroad,clarifies the research methods and purposes of this paper,and puts forward the problems to be solved in the paper.The main part is divided into three chapters.The first chapter starts from the historical context,deeply explores the issue of identity shaping in the Renaissance,reveals two levels of identity,namely social identity and self-identity,revealing the hostile relationship between the two,involving psychology,sociology and The theoretical approach to cultural studies.The second chapter is the main part of the thesis.The three main characters in Marlowe's four plays are the main research objects.They explore the different characteristics of the public opinion relationship between social identity and self-identity in the process of their identity shaping.Tamburlaine has unlimited self-will,and he also enslaves others with self-will;as Jewish Barabas is on the edge of society,he is also disguising it while showing off his identity;Edward II wants to redefine with sexual orientation I am not recognized by the public.In them,identity becomes a place where conflicting forces fight each other.The third chapter discusses the literary value of public opinion,uses German romanticism and new critical literary theory,and points out that Marlowe's drama is a paradoxical work on human subjectivity and ethical issues,and is the unification of various public opinion ideas.Contains special aesthetic value.The conclusion points out the value and significance of this article in the study of Marlowe.
