Xu Chao was a playwright with innovative consciousness in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.As representative works of literati drama,the drama collection "Taihe Ji" is a breakthrough in the history of the development of opera,it is because the work,not only the early use of southern Opera to write drama,also pulled as pivot points spectrum twenty-four ancient beautiful things together as one.It broke through the inherent format of Yuan Zaju and liberated the style.Most of the skills are taken from the desk books of the literati to express Xu Chao’s personal feelings and sustenance.It had a certain influence on the works of opera writers at that time.The collection of Xu Chao’s "Taihe Ji" has been lost,and the existing works have not been engraved in a single line,all of which are compiled in the opera collection.Based on the differences in the editing principles of different opera collections,each opera collection also contains a uneven number of "Taihe Ji" works.Local Chroniclesrecords and Xu Chao’s existing twelve poems are conducive to understanding Xu Chao’s general life.Many of the dramas in his masterpiece "Taihe Ji" are compiled by different opera collections,so there will be version differences in the recorded works.Generally,these differences are reflected in the selection of words and the selection of contents.It is helpful to investigate the specific differences between versions.Although many plays in Taihe Ji are short and small,the clues are clear,and the single linear structure serves Xu Chao’s patriotic feelings,ideal expression and refraction of social phenomena.There are many characters in the play,not only the literati,senior officials and generals,but also the people at the bottom.They are portrayed very clearly,showing the established characters in Xu Chao’s heart to the readers,and also illustrating the common beings in the society at that time.The most prominent artistic feature in the existing Taihe Ji is the language feature.Xu Chao takes the poetic language structure as a whole,fully draws lessons from the previousachievements to write the scene lyricism,and serves for his own opera creation.Because Xu Chao took the lead in writing one-fold Zaju with Nanqu and combined a number of Zaju into one book,he brought a new way to the creation of opera,so some writers’ works were influenced by it.At that time set off a fashion with a number of Zaju into one book.
