In recent years,more and more archaeological cultural remains of the Western Zhou Dynasty in northern Shandong have been discovered.Pottery unearthed from the site is not only huge in number,but also rich in types,which makes research possible and convenient.This paper will sort out and study the pottery unearthed in northern Shandong of the Western Zhou Dynasty on the basis of predecessors.The questions of the specific age and source of these pottery will be solved at the end.The reason and significance of this topic will be explained in the introduction.Besides this the introduction will also carry out academic review and analysis of research plans.After that typological research will be conducted in the second chapter.In this chapter,five common typical types of pottery of the Western Zhou Dynasty will be chosen and divided into different types based on the criteria of quantity and evolution.Then this paper can further discuss the specific age of pottery after typological research in Chapter 2.Because the specific age of these pottery can not be judged directly,we have to compare it with those pottery which has obvious chronological characteristics in other regions.At the same time,pottery from the late Shang Dynasty will also be used for vertical comparison to chase its roots.This will help people understand the cultural complexity of northern Shandong during the Western Zhou Dynasty.At the end of this paper,the conclusion will summarize and sublimate the full text.
