A Report On Abstract Translation Of Data Mining In Computer Science Theses

This thesis is a translation practice report in which the texts selected for this translation practice are s of foreign papers in the field of computer data mining from the journal ACM Transactions on Database Systems,and there are 44 pieces of abstracts in total.Firstly,the author introduces the research status of human translation of this text type at home and abroad.The stylistic characteristics of abstracts are analyzed in both lexical and syntactic aspects.Then taking the Skopos theory of functionalism as the theoretical basis,the report starts with the translation skills and strategies of the abstracts of computer data mining papers on the theoretical basis of Skopos Theory,which combines the translation principles of scientific and technical English with the aim of trying to achieve the consistency,standardization and professionalism of the translation.At the same time,a certain number of examples from the abstracts involved in the translation task are selected.Under the guidance of Skopos theory of functionalism,the author conducts an analysis from the lexical and syntactic levels,explores and researches the selection and application of translation strategies and techniques.Finally,the author explains that skopos theory is advantageous in translating abstracts of papers in the field of data mining,and the experience and limitations of this translation practice are summarized in the hope of providing references for other translators.
