Reading and writing are necessary sections in language acquisition.Reading is a process of language input and writing is a process of language output.While the traditional way of English writing teaching in junior high schools neglects the inner relationship between reading and writing.It's common to see that English reading teaching and writing teaching are isolated at the phase of compulsory education.However,the reality shows that students' English writing ability are under par accompanied with many mistakes through the traditional way of English writing teaching.Moreover,students are reluctant to learn how to write.Those problems which are not beneficial for students' further English learning constitute a serious challenge.As is well known,teaching method to some extent has great influence on students' learning proficiency.Therefore,English reading and writing teaching should be integrated and well-performed to maximize the positive effects on students' English writing.On the base of input and output theory,the schema theory and the constructivism,the study tries to tap into the relationship between reading and writing as well as the efficiency of the integrated English reading and writing teaching method in junior high school.Through questionnaires,teaching experiment and interview,the study attempts to answer the following questions:1.What is the present situation regarding students' English writing learning in junior high school?2.If the integrated reading and writing teaching method can improve junior high school students' English writing score?3.What effects does the integrated reading and writing teaching method have on junior high school students' English writing learning attitude ?To answer those questions,pre-questionnaires and post-questionnaires are distributed.The study also conducted a two-months teaching experiment.At the end of teaching experiment,an interview is implemented.During the teaching experiment,the control class is instructed with separated English reading and English writing teaching method,the experiment class is taught with the integrated reading and writing teaching method.The scores of the two classes in post-test are collected after teaching experiment to be compared with scores in pretest.All the statistics in the study are input to the computer to be processed in SPSS25.The results show:1.Students in junior high school are faced with many problems in English writing learning such as low English writing scores,lack of English writing strategies and confidence in English writing.2.The study redesigns the integrated reading and writing teaching plans.It includes before-class phase,in-class phase,post-class phase.Each phase integrates different reading tasks with writing practice.After the implementation of the integrated reading and writing teaching method,Students in experiment class score higher.Students in experiment class generally outperform students in control class in many aspects.3.Students in experiment class are more confident and willing to write after the teaching experiment.A large number of students are more proficient in using English writing strategies than before.In the end,the study lists out suggestions for the integrated reading and writing teaching.Deficiencies of the study are proposed for further improvement.
