Wandering Between Figurative And Abstract

Since the beginning of the 20th century,the rapid development of social economy,culture,science,technology and the innovation of art concept have pushed art language towards fragmentation and disorder,the expression of painting language is constantly combed,reconciled and entangled between figurative and abstraction.During this period,Georgia O’Keeffe became an important artist in the art history of American painting and even the world and played an important role in the development of modern art because of her painting style between figurative and abstract.Through the discussion of The Basic Theory of O’Keeffe Painting and Figurative and Abstraction,it is found that figurative and,as the result of different effects of imagery,have the characteristics of the main object transformation in visual expression.Based on the difference of the position of subject,there is an identity between figurative and abstract in nature,these factors together deepen the complexity of visual cognition.In the case of fusion,penetration and supplementation of two scales of figurative and abstract,the combination of the experience of concrete existence and the principle of abstract guiding can simultaneously show the three dimensions of concrete things,micro-world and macro-world,which has the function of symbolizing the unknown spiritual world.This result is also conducive to exploring the cognitive classification and development trend of modern art,which is of great practical significance to the guidance of artistic creation.Using the research method of combining theory and practice,the author transforms the relevant theory of figurative and abstraction and the creative method of harmonious resonance between figurative factors and abstract forms in O’Keeffe painting into the application of artistic creation practice.In the creation of the "Microscopic Universe" series,it tries to make the works reflect the general universal form while preserving the specialness of natural things and shows the subtle relationship between the microcosm and the macro law.
